You have probably heard of this tumblr fav about a very confused mess of a boy who gets into all kinds of Situations while trying to sort out who he has feelings for and what it even means to like somebody. This one is super sharp, funny, and has an endearing ensemble cast.

Kabe Koji Nekoyashiki kun Desires to be Recognized  (Viki)

Two childhood friends--one a doujinshi artist, one a pop idol--reconnect and get the chance to sort out old feelings. This one has great wacky energy while still being quite emotionally deep.

Life: Love on the Line (Viki)

This bl film follows a pair of high school lovers through coming of age and the challenges of adulthood as queer men. It's so lovely.

Seven Days (Youtube)

A short film told in two parts, this is a very simple story about a high school boy who is willing to date anyone who asks for a week, and the classmate who is so curious about this guy's deal that he decides to take a week for himself. I bet you can guess what happens next!

Two high school boys decide to date each other. That's it, that's the show, and despite that incredibly simple premise there's a lot here.

If It's With You (GagaOOLala)

A jaded before his time kid who doesn't believe in love meets a nice boy and reconsiders. Another very simple one, but so well executed.

My Personal Weatherman (GagaOOLala)

And on the not so simple end of the spectrum, this is a story about two men whose communication problems run so deep that they've managed to enter into a relationship with wildly different ideas of what exactly they are to each other. Equal parts kink and confusion.

Perfect Propose (GagaOOLala)

The story of an overworked salaryman who reunites with his old high school friend and moves him in as a de facto caretaker. This one is very cathartic for anyone who's ever had a soul destroying job.

At 25:00 in Akasaka (GagaOOLala)

Two former college classmates are cast opposite each other in a bl drama. Old feelings and insecurities return, professional and personal boundaries get blurred, and communication struggles ensue.

A Man Who Defies the World of BL (GagaOOLala, Viki)

This hilarious parody of Japanese bl is most fun to watch after you've immersed yourself in the others, because the jokes will land harder the more familiar you are with the genre and its tropes. There are now three parts to this and they play out as a continuous story.

Witchcraft 101:

Cleansing vs Uncrossing vs Banishing

Alright witches. Lets dive into some witchy basics and discuss the differences between cleansing, uncrossing and banishing. This will hopefully help you differentiate between them. But.. lets be honestly if you do something like call a spell an uncrossing when "technically" doing a banishing, who cares its all in good spirit. The reason i think its good to have a difference in mind between these falls into how you handle a spell. If I'm doing an uncrossing vs a banishing i would choose different spell ingredients, maybe work with different gods, or choose a different element to work with.

Cleansing: I consider cleansings as the foundation and most basic of these. Its almost an umbrella term the other two fall under. All banishings are cleansings, but not all cleansings are a banishing. Cleansings are when you're trying clear something away. Most often people will use this term in day to day workings and general upkeep to make sure nothing has stuck to them. This would include more casual things like smoke cleansing, showering and asking the water to cleanse you, sound cleansing, etc. Its not a full spellworking or ritual, but still done with energy and intention. Sometimes you may do a cleansing and realize whatever is there, is stuck deeper then you expected. So you take the next steps and do a more "intense" cleansing like an uncrossing or banishing.

Uncrossing Spells: Uncrossing specifically refers to removing unwanted energy. Usually when discussing what is an uncrossing, I sperate it from just a cleansing by describing it as a very intense cleansing where you're trying to strip away intense and specific energy. These are more work and a step up from an everyday cleansing for more intense scenarios. This is very spirit focused; think of it as taking out the bad and putting in the good. Some types of spells I would consider an uncrossing are: removing hexes/jinx/curses, removing the evil eye, spiritual detoxes, road openers, removing any stubborn energy, removing feelings, etc. I associate uncrossings with water: it's soaking in and getting that energy out. I would choose herbs/spell ingredients that are uplifting and purifying. Think salt, rosemary, rue, and lemons.

Banishing Spells: Banishing spells remove unwanted entities, spirits or people. You can use it to get rid of very deep rooted things like habits or insecurities. Banishings are quite a strong forms of spellwork. You're really kicking something out and away from you when you do a banishing. Its connected to more deep rooted things that you're trying to remove from your life. Some types of spells I could consider a banishing: cord cutting, exorcisms, banishing a spirit attached to you, getting rid of insecurities, freezers, etc. I associate banishings with fire. Burn and gtfo. I would choose herbs that have more of a kick to them and are defensive. Think nettle, blackberry leaves, cloves, even pepper in some cases.

Please note this doesn't have to be something strict. Like i said at the beginning this is just a guide that will help you differentiate so you can tackle the spellwork as effectively as possible.

The way we start the episode, with Yoh in the shirt Segasaki bought for him and obviously coming out to show him, eager to be seen in his new gift and only a little nervous... He's so desperate to be loved.

And Segasaki gives him what Yoh so desperately craves... words of affirmation! And Yoh absolutely lights up. He is desperate for love but he needs that love in the most straightforward words possible or he'll overthink every movement, touch and choice and that seems to be something Segasaki still doesn't recognize. He still, and constantly, tries to show love in every other way besides words.

But this was so good. This showed exactly what Yoh is looking for and that Segasaki can give it. Look at his smile! He lights up like fireworks, so bright and brilliant, just from that tiny little compliment. I am losing my mind over them, okay?

And Segasaki steps in with the order, taking control of the situation and their relationship again... but in the process forcing Yoh to break a promise and putting him a position where he, again, is reminded that he agreed to obey him. Which he might enjoy but because he still doesn't totally believe that Segasaki loves him... well, it's a lot harder.

In which Segasaki gives orders that are about love but because he uses orders without words of affection... Yoh misunderstands and is ashamed instead. I absolutely believe that if Yoh felt loved, he would view all of these orders differently. But he doesn't. Because the one love language he recognizes is the one that Segasaki uses the most sparingly and with the least clarity.

Can I also point out that Segasaki is constantly bathed in light this entire scene, bright and unearthly, while Yoh is very grounded and more in the shadows. It's because Segasaki knows that he loves Yoh and that Yoh cares about him return while Yoh is still confused and unsure about their relationship and how he feels, let alone how Segasaki feels.

Welcome back to 'Yoh desperately wants to be loved and owned exactly as Segasaki is doing it but needs verbal and language-forward confirmation that Segasaki simply doesn't think anyone should need'.

The bright and nearly colorless Segasaski looming over Yoh as he tells his Matsudaira he was ordered to stay home and you can feel his own tension here, between wanting the orders but also that doubt he still has about Segasaki and it's just all so good.

Have I mentioned that Yoh is tiny and adorable and confused and desperate because he is and he breaks my heart. Because he is so loved and he could be so, so happy but the communication barrier between himself and Segasaki is a mile wide and a mile high and neither one of them knows how to scale it. It is especially not helped by the nature of their relationship and what Yoh needs from Segasaki.

Yoh knowing that his friend is a huge fan of Segasaki and that Segasaki will turn on the charm with her in a way he so rarely does with him and the fact that he can't trust that charm. The panic. But also the complete lack of reaction to Segasaki pushing him across the hall. That doesn't bother him at all.

She's more sure about their relationship than Yoh is. I love that.

The isolation that Yoh feels isn't changing. He's still unsure about their relationship or where he stands with Segasaki, insecure and afraid and he still feels like he's always on shaky ground, like Segasaki turns on the charm with everyone but him.

This is what she sees. Not what Yoh sees. And that's where the disconnect lies. Because you have to look past just his words to see Segasaki's love but Yoh is afraid of trusting that. He's unsure how to read the way he acts and how to respond and so much of his aloofness is a desperate attempt to protect himself.

Yoh clings to Segasaki desperately while he says this because what he hates is the insecurity and the unsure way he feels and everything about this relationship that leaves him on shaky and unsteady ground all the time, constantly going from one emotional feeling to another without a break inbetween.

Segasaki loves Yoh so much but he enjoys him jealous and childish and he likes the way he is as a brat... the problem is that he isn't giving Yoh the steady base he needs to also be himself and Segasaki is starting to see that. He wants the old things they used to share but can't have them because Yoh is constantly on unsteady ground with him and so cannot give him what he wants except when he's drunk or otherwise in a more extreme state.

This is probably the most interesting moment here. Because it's obvious that Segasaki really loves this side of Yoh, when he's a little jealous and very clingy and very needy and just wants to be with him and be loved and be tamed. But, right now, the only way to get it is for him to be drunk.

But how much of that is Segasaki's choices coming into play? He still hasn't figured out that Yoh's singular love language is words and that he needs this kind of thing spelled out to him or he overthinks and spirals no matter how much orders Segasaki gives him to the contrary. Because Segasaki is definitely the brat-tamer Dom here and Yoh wants that, needs that, but he also needs the words in order to recognize what's going on.

We have Chen Yi probably putting a tracker somewhere on Eddie.

And now we have a guy openly tracking his man's ass on My Personal Weatherman.

segasaki: i'm gonna fight her how dare she turn up!!!

I love Yoh so much because it takes his Segasaki literally tying him up and ordering him to stop talking to people before he realizes that everything they've been doing together this whole time has been love. And that's beautiful.

I love that Segasaki giving in to all his deepest urges is what it finally takes for Yoh to realize how loved he is. Because he needed to see how much Segasaki was trying to keep his own cool around him and had to watch him basically lose his mind at the thought of losing him because it clicked.

Because Yoh's self-worth and self-esteem were just so low and he was so tangled up in this damaged self image and this feeling of worthlessness, of having to prove himself, that he never saw what Segasaki was showing him because he simply couldn't handle it.

At least not until there was no other choice.

Not until he literally tied him up and sulked and told him that he could never leave, that he had to always be there... and that was enough. That was forceful and direct and exactly what Yoh needed.

And the rest?

The rest is a happy ending of bad curry and new bravery and love fit to burst.

segasaki said "come live with me and I will take care of you" which is, as he later points out, very close to formulaic japanese confession and marriage proposal, and yoh went, gotcha, domestic slave. they had sex for the very first time and yoh doesn't say "ohhhh, you're into me, this is why you want me in your house and in your life, that makes sense ", or something reasonable, yoh says "ugh, chores" which is: fucking cold, dude. segasaki fell in love first, and he is acutely aware of it! every time he sees some space for pushing, he pushes the relationship forward, but he's terrified that yoh is going to run off from him! so he doesn't act like a boyfriend, until he does, and yoh still fights him even on their date, refusing to accept: food, hand, clothes.

do we really think yoh will hear "i like you, let's be together forever" and will be like "yeah, nice"? while he's still saying "I hate you" because he can't deal with his emotions?

And I love that it actually worked on Yoh
