“ only because they are all idiots, “ lucinda responded with a shrug of her shoulders. absentmindedly, the slytherin stirred her tea before setting the spoon down and taking a sip from the cup gingerly. in the back of her mind, she wondered if this is what their lives were going to be like.. idle, lackluster conversation back and forth until the day that they both died. how awful. she glanced over at him then with a small sigh. well, at least, he was nice to look at. that was a positive in this whole situation. she supposed that she should add something else to this thrilling conversation. she wouldn’t hear the end of it if word got back to her father that she’d been being rude. head tilted to the side as she glanced at the paper in his hands, “ anything interesting in there? “
cassius cocked his head, taking a handful of seconds to look over lucinda and take in her comment before replying; he wasn’t sure he disagreed with her, and not just because of his rumored lack of strong feelings. he had them even if he tended not to voice them, or find they mattered much. but even if most people around lucinda talkalot weren’t idiots, she certainly carried herself as if they were --- an admirable enough quality. he shrugged, letting the moment pass when a bland, charming smile slipped over his features. “ I’m sure they are around you. “ he set the paper down fully and lifted a hand to his own cup just for something to keep his hands occupied while he carried on the idle conversation. “ but, no. there’s hardly anything at all in here, actually. just a lot of empty articles that seem to be avoiding the actual issues. “
