Both Rolland and Chlo$ had Marinette in their life as a good influence.

One of them chose to try and change despite his age, declining health conditions, and fear of anything new. He died loved and will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.

Another one chose not to change, despite her young age and others being willing to guide her and offer her love and support if she'd only ask for it. She left Paris, and no one seemed to miss her.

Ml writers don't throw in anything just for the sake of drama.

If there's a love triangle, an alternative love interest, then it's there to show us that the main couple is really meant to be.

If there's a misunderstanding, it's meant for characters and the audience to learn better communication, not for unnecessary drama.

Even if the main couple goes through a break up, it's for the sake of healing their relationship, learning what they did wrong, and loving each other better, not for them to stay estranged forever. Every angst ends with them coming back stronger than ever.

For the record, ml is a kids' show. Little kids want to see themselves in the characters. They want to watch them face the same problems. That's why 90% of the show is the characters having it hard and learning how to deal with it.

"Why isn't there much good adult romance in this show?"
