a/n: Hello, this short story is helping me get past my writer's block. Sorry for not posting for a while. My laptop flew out the back of my truck while moving, lol, but I got a new one anyway. This is also my first time writing for anyone from Stray Kids, so I hope I did well, but let me stop yapping so you can get to the story.
Warnings: nothing really, I did use ‘Y/n’ for this because I didn't know what else to use, but other than that, no other warnings
Y/n was a loner, and she accepted that fact about herself. She had never really found interest in love or socializing, for that matter, so she didn't know how to react when she got run into by a guy who was too excited for something she couldn't care less about and had the cutest worried face she had ever seen.
She had half the mind just to get up, walk away, and say nothing, but how could she just do that after seeing his face?
“Oh, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?” the guy said, offering his hand with a nervous smile.
For some odd reason, she found herself breathless, unable to form coherent words in her brain, and her face burning hot. She wondered if this was like those dumb meet-cute moments in rom-coms, which made her feel embarrassed.
“Ya, I'm fine…..Bye,” she said as she walked off, wishing for the situation to end as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the holy gods that control the universe decided against it.
“Are you sure you're ok? That was a pretty hard fall. I can buy you a coffee or something to apologize.”
“No, really, I'm okay, promise I'm fine,” Y/n mumbled, trying to brush off the embarrassment as she slowly walked back to her apartment.
“Oh, okay, well again, I’m sorry. Have a nice day,” said the guy as he watched her walk away.
Y/n had made it home and was now in bed, taking a ‘small nap’, as she liked to call it. It had hit the fifth hour of her nap when she heard the annoying noise of people being loud and moving boxes outside.
She had heard there would be a new tenant in her building, which she didn't mind. But when she found out that they would be on the left side of her, she got a little irritated because she had already heard enough loud noises from her neighbors on the right side, considering they were a fresh couple, if you know what I mean.
“Gods, you've got to be kidding me right now,” she said aloud as she snuggled more into her black, fluffy blanket, her favorite blanket. Keep that in mind.
If it were up to Y/n, she would stay in her room and sleep forever, but unfortunately, it wasn't up to her; it was up to the universe, and from what she could tell, it hated her.
Because as soon as she was just about to doze back off, someone knocked on her front door.
She decided to just ignore it at first, but said someone knocked again. So she lazily got up with a groan and dragged her feet towards the front door.
When she opened the door, she saw the same boy she had run into earlier. Y/n was awestruck. She thought maybe he was some creep and had followed her back to her apartment, but she was deeply mistaken when he finally spoke up.
“Hi, I’m Han Jisung, your new neighbor, and I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.” He didn't recognize her at all, simply because she was in fluffy pink pajama pants and a white tank top with extremely messy hair, plus, he had only seen her for a split second.
“Um…ok, well, hi. I'm L/n Y/n,” she said, feeling a bit bad for her standoffish tone, but honestly, he just interrupted her lovely nap, so she couldn't help it.
Han could feel that maybe he had interrupted something, and from the look of it, it was a nap, which he felt bad about because he loves sleep just as much as the next person and doesn't really like being woken up.
“It's nice to meet you. Sorry if I'm interrupting something, just wanted to say hello,” Han said as he put his hand out to shake yours.
You shook his hand firmly, then pulled it away for a minute or two. There was an awkward silence, then he broke it once again.
“Well, I’m gonna head back. It was nice meeting you.” Han said as he slowly walked back to his apartment.
“Oh, uh, ya see you,” Y/n said as she closed the door.
‘See, you really? Gods, what is wrong with me, AND I STUTTERED when have I ever done that seriously?’ you thought as you went back to bed to sleep off the rather embarrassing moment you just had.
Y/n and Jisung had surprisingly gotten to know each other after a while. It started with small waves when passing each other, then small hellos, then an invitation to a cafe to apologize for running into her that day, then small conversations when seeing each other in the hall, then hangouts at each other's apartments, each step drawing her closer to him.
Quick fun fact about Y/n is that she never liked getting to know new people; it was always so awkward and new, and she never really liked new things. She was a person who needed a routine.
But of course, like every other love story you've watched or read, Jisung was different. She found herself drawn to the little things about him, like the way his cheeks would puff out when he ate or the times he would show her songs that he'd write, or when he'd play music tracks he made.
But the one thing she loved most was the little sparkle in his eye when he talked about music or anything he was passionate about, and the way he could coax a laugh out of her so easily. She caught herself falling for him hard, and that scared the living shit out of her.
Y/n hated being vulnerable with people she didn't know why, but she guessed it was just the way she was wired. So, as any dumb person who is not good with feelings would do, she started distancing herself, which was not the best thing to do at the time, because little did she know.
Jisung started falling for her, too. He loved the way she would let him ramble on about random stuff, and she would just sit there and listen. He also loved the way she would bob her head when she listened to the tracks he'd show her.
But what he loved the most was her laugh. It was something that you didn't get to hear often, so when Han did get to hear it, he savored it; he'd replay the sound in his head every night before he went to bed. He felt proud of the fact that he could make her laugh with just a stupid joke.
When he started taking note of the fact that he was falling for her, he was nervous; he didn't want to mess up something good, so he didn't say anything. But when Y/n started distancing, he thought he might have done or said something that upset her. He didn’t know what to do other than just ask her.
‘Hey, did I do something to upset you?’
Han had sent that text 3 days ago and had gotten no response. All because Y/n was scared of her own feelings, she was scared to be vulnerable towards Han. He made her feel things she'd never felt towards anyone before.
So she ignored him. She felt bad for doing it, but she didn't know what else to do. But after a few more days, she couldn't take it anymore, the guilt, the longing, and most of all the absence of his presence, so she finally grew a pair and marched over to his apartment, knocked on his door, and hoped for the best.
The door opened almost instantly, and there he was, the man she had been avoiding for a week. It took her breath away. In all honesty, she wasn't expecting him to answer, but he did. She took a deep breath in and let it all out.
“Hey, I'm sorry I've been ignoring you. I have a reason, it's a stupid reason, but it's a reason. If you'd like to hear me out, you can, but if you don't, that's fine, you can just shut the door, and I'd accept that.”
As she said this, her hand started to tremble out of fear that he'd choose the latter. Y/n didn't notice this, but Han did. He was upset, yes, but seeing her tremble like this made him sad, and he wanted to know why she had been ignoring him, so he let her in.
As he shut the door, the silence between them was thick, and it made it almost hard for Y/n to breathe.
“So are you gonna explain why you've been ignoring me for a whole week?” Han said, keeping his tone firm even though he was just as nervous as she was.
“You scare me,” Y/n said after a minute of silence.
It shocked him to hear that from her. What did he do to scare her? Why was she saying this?
“You scare me because you make me feel things I've never felt towards another person. I've never met someone that makes me feel happy and giddy all the time. All I have to do is think about you, and it brings a smile to my face.” Y/n paused for a moment to try and find better words to tell him how she felt
“What I'm trying to say is *sigh* I like you a lot, Jisung.”
Han was taken aback by these words. He thought he did something, but in reality, she just didn't know how to express her feelings towards him.
“Well, it might help you to know that I like you a lot too, Y/n, and if you don't mind, I'd like to take you out sometime,” he said as a small smile and a blush started to creep onto his face.
For the first time throughout the whole conversation, she looked up at him.
“Really, so you're not upset with me?” she said while looking at him.
“Oh no, I am still a little upset, but not as much now knowing why you did what you did and knowing you like me to helps your case,” Han said with a smile as he walked up to her.
“Oh well, that's good, I guess, but I would love to go out with you, but if you don't mind, I'd like it to be on me as an apology.” Y/n said as she stepped just a little closer to him.
“No, I don't think I'd mind at all.” He said as he started to slowly loop his arms around her waist and close the distance between them.
“Good.’’ She said as she looped her arms around his neck and closed the distance between them.
The kiss lasted for a good minute before they both pulled away for a breath of air.
“Would you like to come over and have dinner with me? We could watch a movie if you’d like to,’’ Y/n said as she pulled away.
“Ya, I'd love that,” Han said as they both walked to the door.
After they left his apartment and went to Y/n’s, she made him dinner. They laughed and joked around while they ate and watched movies, and cuddled once the sun had set. She offered for him to stay.
“You can stay if you want,” she offered as he was about to get up.
“Uh, sure if you really want me to,” Han said as a slight blush crept onto his cheeks.
Y/n had gotten up and started walking to her bedroom. Han figured she was getting him a pillow and blanket, but he was deeply mistaken.
“You comin' or no?” she asked, looking back at him.
“Oh, uh, ya.” he had no idea what was happening right now, but he didn't mind it one bit.
As he walked into her room, he saw she was already in bed, curled in a black, fluffy blanket. When they made eye contact, she lifted the side she was holding up as a silent invitation to cuddle, and he immediately jumped at the opportunity, curling up with Y/n under her favorite blanket.
Y/n had never let anyone near her blanket, but for Han Jisung, it was okay, as they both drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.
