And Bullfango there were, some grunting to themselves as they dug their snouts through the ground in search of insects, roots, maybe some mushrooms to feed on. Others were tussling and bickering with one another, butting into each otherâs flanks and clashing their tusks together. All in all a fairly noisy evening. Then again, Bullfango always were a pain in the ass, both figuratively and literally. A nearby Bulldrome even decided to ram right into what could be considered the Mizutsuneâs butt, clearly upset by his presence and the danger he potentially posed to its herd.
The unmistakable sound of mighty wings gave way to hog-like squeals of terror and panic, the herd of Bullfango scattering to flee from whatever threat had just arrived. A gust of wind and a massive shape flew over the leviathan before a pair of wicked talons grabbed the previous Bulldrome by the head and rammed it into the ground! The sound of bone snapping and breaking was clear and audible; this hog just had its neck broken. A sudden blast of fire would then light the fresh corpse on fire.
It didnât even have time to squeal.
Further investigation on the leviathanâs behalf would reveal to him the easily recognisable shape of a rath wyvern. A Rathalos, to be precise. But this one was an unusual specimen; the scales that were red had a deeper, richer shade than those of normal rath wyverns, and the black scales were glossier and darker. On its back was a sizable hump, perhaps a ridge. The spikes on its wings were longer and sharper, almost like blades, while the same could be said to the spikes on its tail. And it was larger. Larger than any other Rathalos the Mizutsune mightâve seen in the past.

And it just made a meal out of the Bulldrome, letting its fur burn away and its flesh broil in the flames.
The scent of fried pork already filled the air. It wouldâve been nice if the scent of burning fur hadnât accompanied it.
The leviathan let out a low growl as the Bulldrome decided to make the mistake of ramming into him. This was his sleep spot, the spot he always slept in. The beast had no right to disturb him. The Mizutsune would have taken a snap at it himself, had something else not shown up right at that moment. Itâs not like he would have really eaten it anyway since his diet almost entirely consisted of fish.
Within a moment the Bulldrome had been snatched up and thrown into the ground by another monster. Instinctively the leviathan recoiled, creating a bit more distance between him and the scene. On one hand he was glad the annoying beast was gone and that he hadnât been this monsters target, on the other hand there was another large monster in his proximity.
From what he could tell this wasnât any ordinary Rathalos. Kind of like how that Zinogre heâd spotted nearby several times wasnât an ordinary Zinogre.
For the moment Mizu simply watched the scene before him warily, hoping the Rathalos would just leave once heâd gotten his fill. The Mizutsune certainly wouldnât be finishing his nap while the other was still here.
