19 Productive Things to do while Surviving the End of The World

Dramatic but I’m losing my sh*t over here.  I figured I’m not alone so here’s some things that have helped me navigate this foolery.

The 10 Commandments of Whatsapp

As a member of 10+ VERY active group chats (all of which are muted) I give you some cardinal rules to chat by; THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF WHATS APP.

1. Thou Shall Hush

Unless explicitly stated, the info in a group is meant for the the members of said group and said group only. 

2. Thou Shall Have BOMB stickers

Please note; some stickers carry different context in different chats.

Whatever you choose, I only hope it brings light in a world that needs it.

1. Birthdays.

Many people didn’t have them and even when they don’t go as planned, each one is a perfect opportunity to assess yourself and do better.

2.Love.

From family. From friends; old and new. From people I barely know who appreciate what I bring.

3. My Parents.

Many don’t have both of theirs , physically or emotionally. I am beyond blessed to have mine.

4.My Mr.

Often, I question our compatibility. I’ve resolved that if we weren’t meant for each other, we might as well be the best lessons either of us will ever have. Never stop learning

5.My siblings.

It is in our differences I find purpose and hope for who we shall become; GREAT.

6.Bear. My dog. 

7. Growth.

Ageing is involuntary.  Growth- true growth- takes root in your consciousness. I know 60 year olds who are yet to achieve growth.

8.Trini Culture.

In disaster, not only did we come together to help those in need, but we were hilarious we were sharing knowledge and we gave hope to the future of Trinibago.  We are an incredible people.

9. Capability.

When you activate your potential, you find out how capable you are.  A peculiar thing; capability can sometimes confuse you. Remember  because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should do it. 

10. Music.

11. Family.

We can’t chose them and some have been tasked with breaking generational chains but regardless of how close or strained the relationship is, they help to shape us by virtue of what they do and what they don’t do, too.

12.  Opportunity.

More than being at the right place at the right time, it is the state of readiness the universe sees in you and its response with exactly what you needed at that time.

13. Loss.

There is no grater teacher of appreciation.

14.  Peace.

Acceptance of things I cannot change or control.

15. Joy.

16. Creativity.

Mine and that of others. It is the most beautiful version of problem solving.

17. Pleasure.

Alone or shared. Between friends, family or bodies. Brought on by food or people, there is a reason we seek it out. It’s part of what makes us human.

18. Differences.

“Imagine how boring things would be if we were all the same.”-  a smart person.

19. Second chances.

and 3rd and 4th and 5th chances too. I wish I didn’t need them but sometimes I can be slow.

20. Gratitude.

Not just from you to someone else, but can you image the feeling of knowing that people value you so highly, that they are grateful to have you in their lives?

21. Food.

More than sustenance, the magic of food can unify us and divide us, it can culturally define us and make us very very angry if we don’t get it.

22. Smiles.

Infectious and inexpensive, smiles tell a lot about the person giving it and the person to whom it is given.

23. Time.

A concept, really, but it is measured so much, wasted even more and treasured above many things.

24. Warmth

The warmth of genuine hugs. The sunshine on my skin. Welcoming salutations Caribbean people give. It is the proverbial blanket straight out the dryer.

25. Kindness

You can be caring and not be kind. Let that sink in. If you are consistently one thing in your entire life, I hope it is that you are kind.

26. Patience.

So many things are worth the wait. Patience is really an opportunity to enjoy things more deeply.  Be patient with others and even more patient with yourself.

27.  Freedom.

The freedoms within governance are things that I have grown to appreciate but true freedom; to be unhinged; more than liberty but real, unfiltered  being, without inhibitions is the ultimate goal.

28. Laughter.

No matter how old or young, how rich or poor, how tired or anything, laughter is one of the best gifts to give and receive.

29. Friends.

Temporary and life long; they have been some of the best decisions I’ve made yet. Discontinued  or renewed, I have had the honour of calling some incredible people my friends.

30. HAM

I really love ham.
