Addressing the public in another press conference tonight, Chief Choi revealed the shooter who made an attempt on her life three weeks ago has been sentenced to five years in prison. She stated in a brief speech that the punishment followed a series of rigorous interrogations and private court hearings. She also issued an apology on anyone waiting for court time who has been delayed due to the rush through of this case.Â
Protests have been held outside the MPD main precinct in Yeongi since the event with residents claiming holding such public events puts the general public at more risk. Myeongcho Hospital was also forced recently to make a statement about the six injuries as a result of the shooting, reassuring the island that all those who reached their doors suffered little pain and were swiftly discharged with the exception of an unnamed police officer, believed to be the senior whose blood was seen on Chief Choi at the event. His condition was described at the time as âmore severe, but not at all life-threateningâ.Â
With the shooter heading to prison, is this the end of this case? We asked, however, Chief Choi declined to comment.Â

Following the attempt on Myeongcho Police Departmentâs Chief Choi Jiwooâs life last Saturday, a statement has finally been released by the force.Â
In a broadcast earlier this evening, Chief Choi revealed officers at the scene had successfully tracked the culprit during and after his escape, arresting him in the early hours of Saturday night. The shooter, whose identity will remain anonymous for the time being, is now in custody and being held for extensive questioning. Though the MPD made no announcement on his sentence, experts believe he will likely see a significant sentence without a deal. It also currently unknown who will be representing him, however, Myeongcho Legal have already stated they will not represent him out of loyalty to the MPD.Â
Little information was given about last Saturdayâs events and the arrest, but Chief Choi assured press at the scene that she was in âgood spiritsâ both following the shock of the attack and the apprehension of the shooter. She closed her short speech with the promise that âonly good will come of this for the streets of Myeongchoâ. Stay up to date with CNH News.Â

Almost two months after shopping tycoon Lee Yeonseokâs Winter Ball, insiders have said the corporationâs profits have âsky-rocketedâ due to the event.Â
Despite already previously owning a large amount of subsidiary companies, since the tragic bombing before Christmas which killed 8, Lee Yeonseokâs parent company, Lee-Y Corp. has seen record-breaking profits for the first month of the new year and decade. Though exact figures havenât been released, the number is said to be around 750 billion won. Notably, one of his ventures into the jewellery industry revealed that theyâd be opening a branch in Seoul later in the year after considerable success in the new year here in Yeongi. Twilight Moon is expected to continue to make growing profits this month with the popularity of Februaryâs Valentineâs Day.Â
Due to this, however, many suspect foul play. Rumour says the MPD are currently investigating the tycoon for fraud, however, neither Lee Yeonseok or the MPD responded to our call for a comment.Â

BREAKING: MPD REPORT BUSIEST VALENTINEâS NIGHT SINCE 2000
Despite declines in recent years, the MPD are reportedly suffering their busiest Valentineâs Day night tonight following floods of calls about petty crimes.Â
Although the night is still young, at 10 PM, the MPD released a statement urging callers reporting less urgent crimes to use an additional call line to ensure time-sensitive cases can be prioritised by officers on shift. They say they are âdedicated to keeping the city safe, no matter the intensity of the crimeâ, however, ârecognise the need to prioritise cases where public safety is in immediate riskâ.Â
Tonightâs high volume of calls is the highest it has been on February 14th since the record-breaking 2000 in which the MPD could not cope with the demand. Both reports consider only unique cases, meaning multiple reports for the same incident were not counted. The MPD end their statement with a reminder to be vigilant and honest regarding any and all crimes you are a witness or victim to. âTogether, we can make Myeongcho safe,â they finish, citing both active call lines for your future reference.Â

After almost three weeks, MPD have confirmed the death toll at shopping tycoon Lee Yeonseokâs disastrous Winter Ball to be a âdeeply regretful, but otherwise miraculousâ 8.Â
In a statement, MPD praised the work of on-site medics as well as civilian first aiders, with Chief Choi claiming the effects âcould have certainly been worse if not for the tireless and selfless effort of attendees who risked their lives to help othersâ. Though she offers her condolences to the family and friends of those who have sadly passed, she is grateful that the residents of our island and guests who travelled from the mainland could come together in their moment of need. Itâs reported that the MPD have offered a small but generous lump sum to the victimsâ families to go towards funeral costs. Itâs thought that the number of injured guests is significantly high, however the MPD refused to make a definitive statement.Â
We spoke to Kim Hyeri, a survivor of the bombing, who said the experience was both âterrifying and enlightening.â After they were rescued and she had later been discharged from local Myeongcho Hospital, she said she felt as though her âeyes had been opened to how fragile life isâ and will now be taking part in numerous charity events across Yeongi to raise money to support other survivors and the repairs to the largely destroyed Daengom.Â
If you have been affected by these news, the MPD have opened a support line once again in partnership with Yeongi Community Centre.Â

Almost a week on, MPD are calling for witnesses after reports of a murder last Saturday near a convenience store in Yeongi.Â
Staff at the Go2 mart and local residents made numerous calls to the police after hearing shouts and âwhat sounded like fightingâ late on Saturday, November 30th, 2019. Witnesses also reportedly saw two women at the scene, however, most were unable to give detailed enough descriptions of either due to the poorly lit streets around the mart. MPD are calling for more witnesses, as upon arrival at the scene, attending officers found a body had disappeared. Evidence suggested they had missed the victim being moved by mere minutes, but a sweep of the area returned with no leads.Â
Locals are criticising the MPD for their slow response and apparent lack of care for the case. When interviewed outside the head precinct in Yeongi yesterday, one protester said she âunderstood that this happens a lot, but when the MPD openly donât care, what hope do we have?âÂ
If you have any information on this case, please contact the MPD.Â

Over two weeks since Myeongcho University was rocked by the murder of beloved Professor Bae of Natural Sciences, the MPD have spoken up on their findings and, better yet, their subsequent arrest.Â
In a small press conference, MPDâs Detective Song Hajoon reveals the killer to have been a former Hydrus member, who, in believing he would be covering his tracks, killed the man he betrayed his gang to. After details of one of his hits reached another Hydrus member, the killer felt he could only save himself by âshooting the messengerâ. Believing he had little left to live for, the killer also gave MPD the alias of the Hydrus member and MPD are reportedly making every effort to connect the name to a real identity. When asked about the graphic nature of his murder, the killer, with no remorse, only stated he âwanted to be sure he was doneâ.Â
MPD also stated they are supporting the victimâs family, students and the university as a whole as they grieve and cope with the news and investigation. Chief Choi Jiwoo will personally be paying for both a private funeral and public memorial for Professor Bae, as well as attending both to pay her respects.Â

BREAKING: A TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE? CYBER SECURITY FIRM HACKED
Following a breach in security last Sunday, November 10th, cyber security firm Keylock have been forced to shut down, losing all their major customers in mere days.Â
Despite attempts to keep the affair under wraps, alike their systems, Keylock could not keep their intel safe. Businesses and organisations across the island including Sunrise Star Hotel and Yeongi Community Centre relied on the firm to protect customer details, staff schedules and future plans safe from prying eyes. Though the hotelâs own security have managed to keep the majority of their information under wraps, smaller organisations such as the community centre have taken big hits. The MPD is encouraging all citizens to check their bank accounts in particular for any unusual activity as they continue investigations.Â
In a brief statement, a police representative on the case revealed they donât yet know the motive nor the perpetrator behind the attack. The hack was completed from within the company, so every known employee is currently under investigation and they are calling for anyone who thinks they may have seen suspicious activity around Keylock Headquarters in the week prior to the attack to get in touch.

Over the past week, MPD have confirmed the status of a number of bodies discovered across the city, an unknown number at a shooting and another at a residential property in Yeongi City. Though their locations are not being disclosed out of respect for local business owners and residents, the MPD have in a press release revealed that a number of the bodies discovered held a signature tattoo â that of a serpent.Â
Though this is nothing new on the island, MPD are reportedly struggling to find any other connection between the two cases. They do believe, however, that they may have some ties to another from around the time of the Hydrus riots, strongly suggesting again that these murders are very likely to be gang-related. An anonymous representative revealed in an exclusive statement that they personally believe the latter affair to be internal. MPD refused to comment when challenged on this theory.Â
Many witnesses have been contacted for comment, though none have come forward. CNH would love to hear from anyone who may know anything about any of the three murders or any Hydrus activity, but please remember that all witnessesâ safety comes first. If you feel unsafe, please contact the Myeongcho Police Department immediately.Â

Despite strong evidence, CEO Ahn Taewoon of a Myeongcho-based distribution company has been cleared of all suspicion over the death of friend and fellow CEO, Park Hyunmin.Â
Park, CEO of a small-time cosmetics company also based on the island, was murdered at the end of July. After a month of dead-end leads, the MPD earlier this week reported that theyâd made a breakthrough in investigations that lead to CEO Ahn. MPD now state that CEO Ahn cooperated well and conclude that his involvement is as reported at the time of his death. He claims that the CCTV discovered on a dark web forum of him and the victim being seen together long after he originally stated is manipulated and actually from an earlier time in the day. MPD coordinated with the surveillance company and golf course to confirm this.Â
CEO Ahnâs company has skyrocketed in value since the reveal of his innocence and his name has returned to the top ten trending topics, however, with now largely positive articles.Â
The original anonymous poster returned to the forum yesterday to once again claim foul play, but the MPD insist they will take action against the poster for obstructing an investigation. It seems MPD are no closer to finding the truth for CEO Parkâs family, who have been peacefully protesting outside the precinct since they learnt of CEO Ahnâs freedom.Â

BREAKING: MPD MAKE BREAKTHROUGH IN COSMETICS CEO MURDER CASE
Finally, after a month of dead-end leads, the MPD report they have made a breakthrough in the murder of small-time cosmetics company CEO Park Hyunmin. The young CEO had last been seen golfing with friends, however following lengthy interrogations, the MPD could not find a lead on his whereabouts after the group parted ways.Â
Yesterday, fellow golfer and long-time friend, Ahn Taewoon, CEO of the distribution company that handles Parkâs goods, was seen entering the MPD head precinct in Yeongi.Â
The investigation is believed to have been revitalised following an anonymous post on a dark web forum. The poster, unknown to the MPD and untraceable, revealed CCTV footage recovered from the golf course showing the two together long after the time he initially claimed to have last seen him.Â
Since photos of him arriving at the station surfaced online, his name has stayed in the top ten trending topics and his company value has plummeted. Stay tuned for more updates.

Following the awards ceremony over a week ago, the MPD have released a statement regarding the mysterious interruption mid-celebration.Â
During the party held at Museum of Myeongcho, the alarm was sounded for roughly one minute before the celebrations resumed. Quickly, the MPD reassured guests that the signal had been a false alarm, however, a new statement tells another story.Â
âAt first, we believed the alarm to be a mistake of the museumâs security system. However, following a discussion with the staff on duty at the event, it seems a ring was discovered missing. We continued the event as not to worry guests and began our investigation immediately. Now, we can confirm that fingerprints of members two gangs were found at the scene and we are following a strong lead to find the missing ruby ring.âÂ
Sources suggest the two gangs involved are rivals Hydrus and Phoenix. It has been over two months since Lynx revealed Hydrusâ second-in-command to be a traitor to the latter and the serpentsâ subsequent riots tore apart the city.Â

Friday, June 14th, 2019 saw Yeongiâs most dangerous attack of the year so far. Members of the serpent gang Hydrus took to the streets for a public execution and violent rampage of the city in the name of justice. Today, two months on, we look back at how this senseless act has affected our island.Â
âWe were lucky,â says a man, whose clinic behind him shows minimal damage compared to the rest of the city. His name badge reads Lee Hyunwoo and the sign behind him Lee Family Clinic. The weekend isnât even over. âThis block received a lot of damage. Businesses were looted and a few cars were even set on fire.â As can be seen in the clip below, Lee suffered multiple minor injuries in the riots. I wanted to ask how the patients are handling the situation, but felt it not my place to do so. Instead, he continues, with a soft smile despite the startled jump of his shoulders when I offer him a pat on the shoulder. Many of the civilians I met with showed signs of trauma and stress, undoubtedly cases Lee himself will see many of the following months.Â
âIâd like everyone to know that the Lee Family Clinic will remain open for anyone with non life threatening injuries.â I nod. âWeâre hoping to help alleviate some of the traffic flow at Myeongcho Hospital right now.â Lee hands me a card, his professionalism enough to make even myself want to admit myself to the clinic. His work here isnât done and neither is Myeongcho Hospitalâs, the wards and operating rooms overflowing with patients in desperate need of help.Â
I visit there next. âWeâre very honoured that many medical professionals have rushed over from the mainland to assist us.â CEO Lee Jaekyung reveals to me in an exclusive interview. Weâre sitting in her office. Itâs almost silent and thereâs a faint scent of apples. âGiven the demand weâre facing right now, our incredible doctors, nurses, internsâ All of our staff are doing a fantastic job and weâre proud to call them ours.â She smiles, fond but tight. Itâs clear that the pressure of such an event is weighing on her shoulders, but optimistic realism is the key to a happy hospital. âBecause of that expertise, weâre very hopeful for all of our recovering patients and as such, we will be offering all of their medical care following this event until theyâre discharged completely free.âÂ
As I talk to staff on my way out, they seem to mirror the same sentiments. One young doctor, who asked to remain anonymous, tells me he has only been here three months and has never faced a situation quite like this. âItâs tragic, I donât know how anyone could do these things to others. We have so many talented doctors here to help take care of everyone but that doesnât mean that we should have to in the first place. Riots like this should never happen. If we work together as a community, we can make Myeongcho a safer place to be.â His pager buzzes. âNow if youâll excuse me...â He saves another life that day and I feel honoured to have met him.Â
âWe received an anonymous donation,â says a senior doctor as I pass him in the cafeteria on my way to pick up a coffee, âwe can afford to give all of this care for free because of that donor. I hope whoever they are knows how grateful all of our patients are for their selfless act. It mustâve been someone filthy rich, though, so I bet it wasnât much of a chip on their savings.âÂ
Over the following two weeks, I visit countless businesses ravaged by the riots. A clothing store whose walls adorn large black burns and windows taped back together. A florist whose wilting stock is on the brink of death as the âWeâre Closedâ sign displays in whatâs left of the front door. Even a crumbled hagwon whose students meet outside to catch the bus to another further out of the city centre.Â
I re-visit this week, almost two months on. The clothing store has a fresh lick of baby pink paint but the owner tells me all her staff quit following the slow uptake after the riots and sheâs struggling to find replacements. She tells me one girl had such a intense reaction upon arriving for her interview that she paid for her admittance to Lee Family Clinic out of her own pocket. The florists has reopened, a bright new yellow door showing itâs Open For Business! I buy a bouquet and visit the hagwon. The rubble has been cleared but nothing stands in its wake. A neighbour tells me they relocated to the other side of the city and that itâs dangerous being out here this time of day. Itâs only 7PM.Â
Finally, I head to the hospital. The corridors are significantly quieter now. CEO Lee Jaekyung invites me into her office and I hand over the bouquet. She thanks me and carefully arranges them in a vase beside her desk.Â
âDo you know who sent the donation?â She waits a moment before she shakes her head.Â
âUnfortunately, no. But I hope they know how grateful everyone was for their kindness. We unfortunately lost a lot of lives the day of the riots, but we also saved a lot thanks to their selfless donation. Weâll continue to strive to provide the best care for our island. Thank you for checking in on us.âÂ
If you have been affected by the events of the riots or are worried for a loved one, please contact the following support services set up and maintained by the MPD in coordination with Yeongi City Community Centre and local relevant charities. And remember, thereâs always a rainbow after a storm.Â

Almost a month on, the MPD have publicly announced the date for their honours ceremony which will see recovering Officer Song Dawon receive an award for his heroic actions and resilience in the face of extreme danger. Other officers will also be honoured at the event, including Detective Kwon Jonghyun who will commemorate thirty years of ongoing service. Detective Kwon has worked the majority of Myeongcho Police Departmentâs major cases in that time period, including the assassination of their former chief in 2016.Â
Though the event is exclusive, members of the public with a connection to the force will have the opportunity to attend and press photos will be released of the ceremony the following morning. The venue for the event, the luxurious Museum of Myeongcho, will close at an earlier time on August 17th ahead of the celebrations. Museum officials have stated only staff will be allowed to help prepare.Â
Reportedly, all guests will be served a three-course meal after the awards ceremony and will end the night with soft, classical music and slow dancing. After 11PM, the music will cater more to a younger audience, so if youâre interested in getting your grind on, be sure to stick around until then.Â
In their reveal statement, officials for the event said, âThe MPD are thrilled to be celebrating their talented officerâs achievements with you and to pledge together for a brighter future for Myeongcho Island. Thank you.âÂ
