Rana’s Rendezvous

I can’t stress enough how irritating I find it when Shostakovich or any other composers are just, “uwufied”. Like, you can do what you want but it just makes what I’m researching feel useless and, to be fair, annoys me. Like take Shostakovich. I’m not going to say who, but many people on Twitter do amazing fanart of composers, and that’s great! It’s always nice to see different people’s styles and takes on the composer. However, there are some which are… let’s say questionable. I’ve seen Shostakovich drawn as a maid catboy and other stuff which I don’t feel would be appropriate to say. He’s also been shipped with other composers (even stalin, like bro what?! That literally defies all sense of history surrounding the two!). It is then when I feel kind of uncomfortable. You can ship composers, you can do whatever you want, but I’m just not like really into that or even have the right judgement at times. But when it comes to Shostakovich, that’s a whole other thing.
