;; End of term has me busy and I’ve been spending most of my free time playing Death Stranding (I WILL BUILD ALL THE ROADS!!!!!!). Playing a game is mind numbing and I can lose myself in that so it’s been easier than writing. At the moment, I have a paper and a take home final to write so I’m kind of avoiding my tablet. Had some adult things to do over the weekend, more next weekend. My exams are on Tuesday/Wednesday next week and then I’m free. I should be on more after that.

;; I’m doing a little better than I was earlier in the week. Still really tired, but I’m in a better place mentally. Thank you everyone for your concern. I just needed to silence myself for a few days so I just went offline and focused on other things. Things still aren’t great, but I need to work my ass off the rest of the term.

This means that I won’t be able to work much on drafts. I likely won’t have a good chance to get everything consistently done until the end of the term in December. I will try and get out what I can, but thank you guys for being understanding. <3

;; This week has been one of the hardest. I don’t think I will be online here until the weekend. I’ll be popping around on mobile maybe once a day, but I am physically and mentally spent. Yesterday killed me. Feel free to shoot my muses asks and stuff, that might be the easiest thing to return to. More detail under the cut, but it is personal so if you don’t wanna know my BS then don’t look.

;; Funny story. Remember when I said life was quieting down? I lied. So I’ll be in and out for a while. It’s almost the end of October and I have another bout of Midterms coming up next week (3 of them) and then 2 papers and then it will be finals! I also have job hunting to start. I put it off this long, I have no choice since as of December I’m no longer a student, so long as I pass everything...So I’ll pop on when I can. If I don’t reply to messages and stuff, it just means I’m busy/swamped. It also means the queue might run out frequently. I’ll fill it with the odd reply here and there when I have time, but things are about to get even more hectic.

How was this man still alive? Newt looked like he had the constitution of a bowtruckle, how could he subject his body to the things he did and still live to tell the tale? Percival had always thought he was talented for surviving as long as he had when he made stupid decisions as an auror. Somehow Newt’s decisions were worse. “You astound me,” Percival mused as Newt immediately took off in search of the creature. “You know, if it’s injured, surely we don’t need to be going at quite such a speedy pace? Some of us have bad knees Newton!”

Newt didn’t quite hear Percival’s complaints. Either because he was concerned with the task at hand or he was choosing to ignore it. Just because a creature was injured did not mean it couldn’t still be fast. Hurrying through some brush, Newt observed some broken branches with some blood on them. He followed that in a new direction, running off ahead of Percival and disappearing through some trees.

Jason didn’t really expect any advice from the magizoologist or make it seem like he wanted any. His story wasn’t well known to others, they just saw him as a fanatic, someone who shouldn’t be listened to or have people care about him. What he had done to others made it hard for any authority to listen to him and believe him. He had tried what he could to get out of the situation he was in but it was hopeless. He wouldn’t put the pressure onto Newt to get him to help.

“I’ll keep looking for a way out, but I’ve tried everything that has shown itself to me… It never worked though.” He shrugged, fidgeting with his hands, looking down to them with a frown. “Yeah, I’ve seen that possibility and I know I can only do my best to protect her, but she may die in this war… maybe then I’ll be free in a twisted way.” Jason frowned even more, the death of his sister would make him be able to resist the dark wizard but it would make it hard for him to find a reason to fight for. “Why are you helping me? No one else has even listened to my story.”

Newt felt warmth rush to his cheeks as he was asked why he was trying to help Jason. He distracted himself with turning to pet the dragon instead. He gently rubbed her scaly neck, shaking his head. “Y-You helped me...I-I just thought I could return the favor...” he replied, “Though, I suppose I’m not much help...” He couldn’t pull the man away from the dark wizard and he didn’t seem to like his advice.

    “You’ve never seen a territorial creature before?” Percival asked sheepishly, holding Newt a little tighter to his side. He was older than Newt - a lot older - and Percival couldn’t help but feel that Newt might actually realise that one day, think that Percival might hold him back. Not to mention, there had been another Percival Graves, and from what he could tell, they hadn’t been particularly kind to Newt. The man had every right to look at Percival and be reminded of that. “I… I’m sure you could find plenty of reasons to trade me in if you wanted to. I have to make sure you don’t get the opportunity.”

    “I’ve chosen to be stuck with you, and I’m pretty happy with my choice,” Percival smirked. “There’s definitely only one Newt Scamander. I don’t care about any of that. I have my own scars, and I tend to scare anyone away before anyone has the chance to be socially awkward or confused about human interaction. So you work quite well for me. Too confused to be scared, I guess. I can’t let someone else think they can try to take that away.”

Newt had seen many territorial creatures, but he had never considered Percival to be one. Not until now. He felt humbled by it. To be claimed by someone he really did have feelings for was quite heart warming. Newt glanced back around at the party goers, watching as people mingled. There were posters around, ones of him awkwardly standing with his book. The part was to promote his book, but now all Newt wanted was to spend time with Percival without other people.

Newt was careful with his wording. He got the feeling this stranger was more than he seemed. He was proven correct when the man said he came from another planet. Though, that received a surprised and puzzled look from Newt. As far as Earth had discovered so far, there weren’t any other planets with life on them. Perhaps this man was confused. Judging by the look on his face, though, he wasn’t. “H-How did you end up here?” Newt inquired curiously now, unsure why an alien would be on this planet. Perhaps the man was a researcher in his own right. That would be something Newt could respect.

What had Yon stunned the most perhaps was the reaction of the young man in front of him. There was no shriek, no running away or anything of the likes the moment he said he wasn’t Terran. To him, that was incredibly fascinating and to a certain point, a bit scary as well. “In truth, I would have never ended up here if I didn’t discover something strange in the atmosphere.” To clarify it a bit more, Yon opened the zip of his training jacket just a little bit so he could reach into it, revealing a little bird like creature he kept warm in there. It was gently chirping, in a way to indicate that it was in pain, shivering in Yon’s hand, the light yellow and cyan feathers all ruffled up. “It’s a little Silverwing. That’s about all I know. They’re not native to Terra, I believe, but it was the closest planet. Do you think you could help?”

Newt had a natural curiosity that led him down some rather dangerous roads at times. But it was that curiosity that always led to new discoveries too. The same curiosity that left him wanting to find out more about this foreigner from another planet. He resembled a human physiology, though, his eyes certainly were striking. That was not unnatural in the magical community, however, so as unworldly as they seemed, they weren’t that far out.

It was with the reveal of the creature that Newt’s attention was dragged deeper in. There was a sort of internal cringe when he heard the pained chirp. Any creature injured and suffering always left Newt with a feeling of unease. Stepping forward almost immediately, he leaned in to take a look at the feathered being. He couldn’t recall seeing something such as this, but what it was or where it had come from was not his concern at the moment. He couldn’t see what was wrong though without a more thorough inspection.

“Don’t worry. given enough time, you’ll earn the chance to spend time with precious alone as you so desire,” he chuckled, amused at the idea. He laced his fingers with Newt’s before drawing him to the chair and sitting down. He thought about further infuriating the lionman before him, but elected against it for the moment. Instead, he chose to pull newt to sit in his lap and wrap his arms around the slender waist. For now, he could enjoy having his dainty pet in his lap.

Newt followed Gellert’s lead and moved to sit down in his lap, facing as much away from Theseus as he could. He was very much afraid of his brother. The memories that floated around in his head were of abuse and pain, things that he was afraid would happen with Theseus there now. But he trusted Gellert. The man was his master. He wouldn’t let anything happen to him.
