Jiang Cheng turns around to face her and says, “Wen Qing, leave the Wen clan. I… I can…”

Wen Qing responds, “Jiang-zongzhu, what can you do?”

The camera angle changes so that Jiang Cheng is now in the background of the shot behind Wen Qing. She continues, “I’m still a part of the Wen clan. I have a little brother and a family to take care of. You can protect me, but can you protect them all?”

Now the camera switches between shots of Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng as they face each other. Wen Qing says, “Thank you for saving me. I saved you, you saved me, we are even now.”

She turns and walks out of the shot, leaving the camera to focus on Jiang Cheng. He hesitates and then calls out after her, “Wen-guniang!”

He removes a small item wrapped in cloth from his robe. He presents the unwrapped item, a deep red comb, to her and says, “Wen-guniang, take this comb. If you need anything in the future, come find me. I will help you one more time.” She looks down at the comb but makes no move to take it. He places the cloth and the comb down on the table.

Shen Qingqiu is unreliable because he is unable to understand that the characters around him are people and see how much his actions have changed the plot

His downfall is that there are too many pieces on the board and he can’t kill any of them. Lan Xichen can’t die because he loves Lan Xichen. Lan Wangji is Xichen’s brother, so he’s off limits. If Wei Wuxian dies Lan Wangji will lose it, so he can’t be killed even though he’s an immediate threat. Jiang Cheng really should die, but that would make Wei Wuxian (again, a threat) go on another dark magic bender. Jin Ling is his nephew, and his death will set any of the above parties off. Nie Huaisang seems helpless, and again, there’s an emotional element.

the dog comparison i'm making draws vaguely from everything from how in some ways Fairy is to Jin Ling as Wei Wuxian was to Jiang Cheng, to certain aspects of wwx's kink dynamic with his husband, but i was inspired to say it by the leadup to the xuanwu because like.

wwx wants to go talk to lwj for days during the qishan indoctrination, but jc tells him no and lwj gives him the cold shoulder, so he holds off

then he sees lwj struggling and goes to try to insist on being allowed to help him and asks a bunch of questions before

getting distracted by an interesting smell and bounding over to be obnoxiously overfamiliar with Mianmian and demand she share with him the things she's sharing with her friends.

then he goes right back to lan zhan with no idea why this would be annoying

later he's twitching wanting to intervene in the persecution of mianmian, but Jiang Cheng keeps a hand on him to hold him steady, so he doesn't go, and she dives behind lwj and jzx instead.

The reason that the Red Cross’s policy is trans-inclusive is because FDA has never clarified their stance; the Red Cross and the AABB (the main industry body) take the correct position that of course trans men are men, therefore the ban applies to them. So to be clear, the homophobia comes from FDA, and the trans-inclusivity comes from the Red Cross.

In fact, the Red Cross was a huge reason the permanent ban was changed to 12 months, and then that was changed to 3 months. I was involved in a bunch of the meetings with FDA when they were discussing updating their policy, and at every turn the Red Cross pushed for the ban to be removed. In fact, AT THIS VERY MOMENT, the Red Cross is collaborating with two other blood banks on a study intended to provide evidence that the ban is scientifically nonsensical. Their study has a very real chance of finally convincing FDA to completely remove restrictions on queer men donating blood.
