NARUTO MODERN AU LET'S GO

part 1 of many (i say modern but its late 90s/y2k)

sasu naru and saku come from a small town in japan. for the longest time all they had was each other before moving to the big city.

jiraiya and tsunade are naruto's biological (paternal) grandparents. his parents died because of a natural disaster. they were both scientists/meteorologists. minato was basically like steve irwin </3

the town he lives in is abundant in frogs and woodland creatures. his parents often took him on small excursions to the surrounding forests and used to talk to him all about the frogs/toads and the ecosystem. naruto had always been fascinated and wanted to learn more about the natural world.

they also have a kai ken (dog) named kurama.

I have been obsessing with Spy x Family again, as well as Ponyo

the idea just took root in my mind and i really think this would be such a beautiful life for naruto post-war. discovering the world, making it his home, and everyone welcoming him like family.

he would share stories, help people, spreading love, hope and peace. and even write about his travels ! the book would probably read like a wackjob wrote it but it would be so heartfelt :')

i've always loved the idea that a post-war naruto would feel such peace and happiness that he often (accidentally) goes into sage mode simply by breathing. like someone's talking to him and then maybe a moment of silence would pass and when they look back at him the markings of sage mode are on him. also, i imagine in this au he also lets kurama's chakra leak freely (kind of like he's letting him stretch) so he would sometimes have sharper features because of it too.

for example, when he was willing to not promote his restaurant on television if that meant making Yumin happy, this reaction shows 1) he hasn’t learned that overly devoting yourself to someone is harmful, and 2) his time with Sojeong really did on number on his mindset. even after everything he went through, he’s still willing to conceal himself from the public if his lover asked him to.
