Iām thinking of a fic where Batman finds out like 3/4ās of Gotham think he and Bruce Wayne are dating from some random kid.
Like, heās getting himself a coffee or smth after patrol or whatever, and this chipper kid who works there and exclusively talks at Batman (who is a regular at this point) because yk Batmanās tired and he only speaks in grunts.
Anyway, itās after Valentineās Day, and this kid is like āOh hey Mr. Man!ā (Because what do you call Batman, Mr. Bat? Too goofy.) āDid you and Mr.Wayne have a nice Valentineās Day?ā
And Bruce is just like ??? Huh? Did I have a good Valentineās Day with myself?
And obviously the kid, who has come to sort of understand Batmanās body language, assumes that they donāt celebrate Valentineās Day, and itās just absolute confusion the entire time.
I know this is a fic somewhere. Iām notā¦Iām not gonna look for it myself, but if someone knows a fic like this Iād love to read it.
I am genuinely sick and tired of people bringing up AO3 whenever theyāre talking about literature or bad writing.
1. You cannot generalize the entire site of AO3. I GUARANTEE most people have not read nearly enough on the website to do that. Writing style and quality is highly dependent on fandom, so if youāre seeing bad writing, you might just be in a fandom with a younger audience/new writers.
2. Fanfiction, while being wonderful, amazing, etc, is NOT PUBLISHED LITERATURE. It cannot be compared to published/ original literature. I can concede that you can compare the āOriginal workā fandom tag, but itās a lot like comparing the works of a creative writing group to published work. Itās just not comparable, and also just discouraging.
3. Hobbies (which is what writing Fanfiction is, a hobby) have their own standard, and they have it for a REASON. Because hobbies are for fun. And it is not fun to have your hard work devalued, looked down upon, and criticized without you being in the space to receive it. The reason published authors are able to receive open criticism without the need for their consent is because the criticism made by readers is not FOR the author. There are spaces for authors to receive criticism for a reason. Fanfiction as a whole is not the same. Thereās a reason itās against fandom etiquette to leave criticism under fanfics.
4. Itās just stupid, and not encouraging to say that.
I lowkey want to write a fic about the weird-ass power dynamic between the player and the objects, because when you think about itā¦itās so odd.
You own them. You can destroy their object forms, separate them from eachother, throw them out. You can cut them out from the outside world entirely, show them they can be real and instead of doing that, trap them as objects forever.
Itās genuinely my favorite thing about the game. Like yeah, they watch you, but you own them.

Writing a Hazbin fic, and my characterization of Alastor is so different from canon itās kind of funny
C! Alastor: Iām an insanely smart serial killer who always smiles as a way to intimidate, and I hate like 90% of the people I meet, except for one (1) person, and that is Nifty.
My Alastor: Iām a very old Vampire who guards his feelings because Iāve lost everyone Iāve ever cared for ( which was a total of two people). Iām in love with Vincent because I think heās cute in a pathetic way.
^^^ both of these are MASSIVE oversimplifications, but I just thought it was funny kinda
I do not fucking play about not crediting artists. Just spent like 2 hours trying to credit the artists of like 52 images because the poster was being an asshole about it.
Watching wicked for good has made me notice things about the musical I didnāt realize before.
Itās also reminding me that fiyero and elphaba have NO chemistry. Not even a little bit. Although Casting Cynthia for Elphaba definitely didnāt help .

I could understand if they said it was implied, because, well, when you read it thatās what it looks like. But it doesnāt SAY that. All it says is that he is to wander the earth, and that he himself cannot be murdered. Doesnāt mean he canāt die. It EXPLICITLY says he cannot be murdered, and says nothing else about any other death.
