I wish I could miss.

“Your owner doesn’t allow it?”

“When you become as old as I am, you contemplate many things about humanity. For me, I frequently think about how loveless and selfish the world has become. That’s my own thoughts, of course.” He advised, smiling faintly while walking back to his painting despite the fact that there was nothing new to it. “Dane is one I’m very proud of; his growth as a person has really shown over the time I’ve had him. The polite attitude that comes from him is his Southern background. I hope you didn’t frighten him with your fangs. He’s a bit skittish by them.”

“What about it?” When he spoke of being loveless and selfish, she looked down. She could admit, she herself was growing selfish, but she felt she deserved it a bit. Loveless, on the other hand, she didn’t think she was capable of being. “I didn’t scare him. To my knowledge at least.” The baby mistress gave a small smile, watching him in front of his painting. “He’s quite the boy. The both of you are very lucky.”

“Wherever you like. Out to dinner. Desires. Just back to my home.”

The voice that came had Thomas blinking slowly out of his thoughts, blue eyes shifting to the female’s face. “I’m fine.” He looked at her a little suspiciously. Nobody but two people ever asked or expressed concern of his well being, and anyone else doing so wasn’t something he was at all used to. “Why do you ask?”

Clarice sensed his suspicion and offered him a smile. “Are you?” Blue eyes raked over him. “You seem out of sorts, almost.”

“You are very welcome, darling.”

“You know, Vivienne, once upon a time I saw you dance on stage. When do I get the pleasure of viewing another dance again?”

Smirking, the boy wrapped his arms around the mistress. Bitting his lip, he ran his hands up and down her back. “Crazy seeing you here.”

Letting her hands fall to the boys hips, the vampire licked drops of water from the corner of her mouth, looking up at the wolf. Chuckling, Clarice tilted her head. “Really? In my own pool?” Clarice let their naked bodies float into each other in the water. 

“Well, you looked like someone who would appreciate a little outing.”

Clarice had been watching the boy for a long moment. At first, from a distance, wondering what he was staring at. Clarice had been looking around, but found no focus of the boy. So, after a few moments, she stepped forward, still watching him silence. Standing to the side, she tilted her head. “Are you alright?”

“Why thank you, gorgeous.”

Pulling off all clothing, Andrew slipped into the pool beside her. “Well hello there.”

Licking her lips, she watched with a grin as he stripped and got in. Her hands went to his sides, causing him to float into her. “Hello yourself.”

“Years, my dear,” he replied, in all honesty. He paused beside her, sky grey irises glancing over her pretty face yet again. Perhaps it was because fragility allured him so, or because he had taken to favouring blondes of late, or perhaps it was simply a rare instance of sympathy occasioned by the intuitive bond between two vampires – he decided it would suit to offer what the city could not, before those ‘rare few’ weak examples of their species could dig their claws into her childlike existence and pollute her. “I will show you, if you wish. There are some who will tell you to resist what you have become. That is not the way – you will fail if you attempt to take that route.” 

“Years.” Clarice repeated quietly. The mere thought of years of fighting the urge, going through the constant pain of the hunger and desire to kill was not one she was willing to welcome. The baby mistress was lost in these thoughts that she hadn’t noticed the older vampires eyes on her so intently. When she did, she froze, truly watching him and getting a real good look at him. He was so old, wielded such a power. No more than the kin, of course, but enough to both make her fear and desire it. When he offered to show her, she tilted her head. Nicholas had also offered to assist her. How could their help differ, she wondered. “How can you show me?” Clarice looked down for a moment, long lashes covering pretty blue eyes before they looked back over to him. “Isn’t killing the city’s property not tolerated?”

“Sounds good to me.”

“Chop chop, Handsome.”

“I may just stand here, it’s a nice sight from this far.”

“Shame. I would have appreciated a sight in return.”

“On the contrary, as time progresses, I find I am more able to place details to memory without difficulty. Scents are more acutely identifying than appearances, these days.” Passing into the bank’s wing, he gestured to the counter that they should approach. The moment provided a veil to her hesitation, but it could not conceal it completely. “Your honesty is pleasing. So I will be honest in return: it will never fade. You will merely become more adept at resisting it - or perhaps embracing would be more accurate a term - if you proceed in the correct way. It is a pity that this clan is not particularly nurturing in nature. If it were, perhaps you would adapt more quickly.” 

Clarice thought about it for a moment. She had committed quite a few scents to memory by now. But going so long, with so many coming and going, she couldn’t imagine how someone as old as he could remember. “That does make sense.” Clarice nods. As they entered the wing, the counter in view, the baby mistress stops to continue their conversation, it suddenly seeming more important than withdrawing money. At his words of her honestly, she gave a small smile. “Thank you.” Though his next words brought the frown to her lips. “I know, I’m just wondering...how long.” The blonde pushed strands of hair behind her ear. “What is the correct way? Yeah, I got that vibe long ago.There are a few, but they’re rare, I suppose.”

When she said she hoped everything would be alright, he fought back a frown and hugged her tightly to show his appreciation for her company. Pulling back, he listened to her talk about his daydreaming. “Oh, it was more or less lost in my thoughts than a daydream.” Scratching the back of his head and gesturing for her to come further into the room, he cleared off a spot for her to sit and smiling small in her direction. “Oh, which boy? I have two.”

Clarice was slightly thrown off by him tightening the hug, but smiled nonetheless. Her hand pressed to his back, giving it one smooth rub, before she pulled back. “What were you thinking about, if I may ask?” She stepped away from him and followed him into the room. Sitting down, she crossed her legs, looking up at him. “Dane. Handsome and polite one you have there.”
