Shadow Minister for Health Michelle Rempel Garner criticized the Trudeau government's handling of the pandemic in a statement this morning, citing a list of "Trudeau's pandemic failures." Among the failures listed by Rempel Garner include: - Telling Canadians that there was no person-to-person spread of COVID-19; - Telling Canadians that border control measures and masks didn’t work; -Sending critical supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) to China when [Canada] had a shortage; - Abdicating responsibility for the pandemic to the provinces; -Failing to ensure Canadians have access to rapid and at-home testing options; - And shutting down the federal pandemic early warning system, just months before COVID-19. The Calgary-Nose Hill MP also announced that she tabled a motion at the Health Committee calling on the Trudeau Liberals to "release documents related to the COVID-19 pandemic," criticizing the Liberals for voting to shut down the committee meeting entirely. Terminally children in the Netherlands between the ages of 1 and 12 are expected to be legally allowed to be euthanized, Dutch Health Minister Hugo de Jonge told the Dutch Parliament on Tuesday. [...] Under Dutch law, doctors in the Netherlands cannot be prosecuted for purposefully killing patients if the patient fulfills a certain set of criteria. Existing laws allow those with terminal illnesses over the age of 16 to consent to assisted suicide, and allows 12-to-16-year-olds to do so with the additional "consent" of their parents. The Netherlands also allows infants up to the age of one to be euthanized under the "Groningen protocol" if they face "unbearable suffering" and the parents have consented to such a procedure, among other criteria. The men, Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh, who are being held in U.S. military custody in Iraq, are accused of taking part in the kidnappings of international hostages, including U.S. aid workers Kayla Mueller and Peter Kassig and U.S. journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff. Social media commentary indicating masks provided to York Region District School Board staff were recalled due to the presence of carcinogens isn't accurate, according to a board spokesperson. The masks, which were provided by the Ministry of Education, were not recalled, YRDSB spokesperson Licinio Miguelo said, but the board is switching to a new set of masks to mitigate concerns. The change is not being made because the masks are unsafe, he said. [Huh!? Japanese fish industry representatives on Thursday urged the government not to allow the release at sea of tonnes of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant, saying it would undo years of work to restore their reputation. Tokyo Electric has collected more than a million tonnes of contaminated water since the plant was crippled by an earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
