— my notepad: because there’s too many civilians that are eye-witnesses to cases that I’m currently doing, or I’ll see someone doing something and I have to note that down.
— candy: if my sugar gets low then I can’t do anything regularly so candy it is, though a lot of my partners have commented that I should bring something that’s not gonna melt.
— gum: something to chew on because my neurodivergent mind needs to stim every chance I get. Spearmint is the best flavor to me, or at least the most stimming. Who knows.
— loose money: umm…it’s more organized but not really. Sometimes I’ll have it in coins and chipped dollars and most times I’ll have it organized and folded crispy but if I run into someone who needs a dollar or something idk if it’ll look presentable. #sorry
— hygiene products: chapstick, hand cream, hair brushing are more for the hygiene purpose and the fact that my lips get dry every five minutes but I also like having them to stim, especially hair brushing.
— burner phone: I’m not a u.c federal (undercover) but I do happen to have people call my burner phone if it’s tied to operations that involve things outside of business. Kinda like I’m working undercover but not officially.
— gauze: because bandaids aren’t that helpful in my line of work, sometimes people shoot, stab, bite, scratch and blood is something you often see. A bacon bandaid is for the house.
— files: rare but a necessity. Especially if going to the station, because if I don’t have them on me then I forget. And don’t worry about anyone stealing my bag, cause that’s not happening. #goingtoprisonifyoutry
— keys: one for my files and the other for my car, it’s simple. Can’t really see myself without them.
— tea: I am a woman that requires balance whether that means hormones, blood sugar, iron, whatever—if I don’t have at least something herbal to drink then I won’t function. Usually just spearmint tea though.
— pain medication: just like with the gauze, you need some sort of pain killers because being a detective is not easy. If you’re not in pain from fighting criminals, then you’re fighting a headache and that’s worse might I add.
— notes: I have a secret lover who I can’t disclose because they’d call me corrupted if I did, so I keep his notes that he writes to me in my bag to remind me that my heart is in his chest and his is in mine.
— misc: hair ties, receipts, my wallet, jewelry that’s tangled, coupons I don’t use because I forget to, tokens from the kids I saved.
