Watch Me Do The Stupid Thing

I’m not trying to be like “ohoho look at me I’m such a good friend”, I’m saying the second I stopped going “I wish I had friends who would invite me to tea parties” and just. hosted the tea parties myself? I still got to do the thing. I still got to see my friends. I still got to be happy with them.

It’s a lot of energy, I get that. Especially if you’re putting in all this effort, but not getting any back.

But I think that’s the reason no one does it. I mean we’re so worried we’ll start doing all these things and our friends won’t like it or won’t be into it, so we just don’t.

Only last week my friend messaged me, asking if I wanted to go stargazing with her. When I forget about our weekly virtual tea party, another friend called me to ask if I wanted them to host it this week.

I’ve been invited on hikes and picnics and pie making competitions over zoom, and it all sort of started with me going out of my way to be “that friend”.

So, I told him, “they’re not unconnected- we were talking about going to the carnival, and the carnival is on the same fairgrounds they used to use for the rodeo, and one time at the rodeo my brother spilled sprite on himself and a bee went up his shirt and stung him, and bees die when they sting, but wasps don’t, and I was wondering why, so I asked you.”

Dogor is the 18,000 year old pup that was found within the Siberian Permafrost, yet is not quite a dog nor a wolf, but a puzzling connection to both. 

Dogor has been miraculously preserved within the permafrost, with its fur, teeth and even whiskers incredibly intact. Radiocarbon dating has placed the animal at 18,000 years old and researchers have suggested that the animal passed away at just 2 months old. The name Dogor means “Friend” in Yakut, a language spoken within Eastern Siberia. 

Generally, genetic analysis can quite easily discern whether a discovered canine is a wolf or dog, but in this instance, the genetics suggest that it could be an ancestral link to both. Interestingly, Dogor lived at a time in canine evolutionary history when dogs and wolves began to branch off from each other.The general scientific consensus is that dogs and wolves split from a common ancestor, however, the process of how “dogs became dogs” is certainly contested, and Dogor could be a crucial piece in that puzzle.

If Dogor is determined to be a dog, it will be the oldest ever discovered. The next oldest, the Bonn-Oberkassel puppy, was discovered in Germany and was clearly determined to be a dog of around 14,000 years old, buried with a man and a woman. 

The progression of climate change is melting the permafrost more rapidly, and discoveries like these are becoming more and more commonplace.

These button-up sweaters became known as “Sloppy Joes.” They were generously long and bagged over the hips, with long sleeves pushed up above the elbows. This look was inspired by the outfits worn by male Ivy League students, who took pride in looking a bit slipshod.

The Daily Californian wrote that only the “most self-satisfied of men students” wore filthy cords, sloppy sweaters, and embraced general disorder. They were “proud of their neglect” and thought it showed a “superiority of mind over other men.” It didn’t take much time for the all-women’s schools on the east coast to take on the same look.

“They began to wear Sloppy Joes around the same time they started to wear pants,” Deirdre Clemente, a historian of 20th century American fashion, told The Week. “These young women were saying, ‘we’re not adhering to your concept of prescribed femininity, we’re doing our own thing.’”

The public backlash was massive. Men hated the cardi because it concealed women’s bodies and obscured their curves. The media dubbed the women who wore them “Sloppy Sues.” A 1947 article in Life lamented the sweaters and was shocked that these women “sometimes even ventured out of dormitories in rolled-up blue jeans and large men’s shirts with the tails out. … like a girl who does not care whether or not she looks like a girl.”

In 1937, college men at Northwestern complained that women were “handicapping themselves” with their sloppy dress and they should “make themselves prettier,” to deserve their attention. In 1944, one WWII veteran even waged a one-man protest against sloppy sweaters at the University of Minnesota. He declared that “co-ed” dressing wasn’t what he’d fought for in battle, and likened the fashion trend to the horrors of war.

Mothers also worried about their daughters traipsing around in sloppy clothing, which was thought to equal sloppy manners, sloppy thinking, and sloppy morals. Some thought the disheveled look foreshadowed an equally disheveled housewife. Others thought it broadcast loose morals, since so many cardigan-wearing women were forgoing the girdle beneath. One mother claimed her daughter’s slovenly look would drive a man to drink later, to which her daughter responded: “It’s comfortable and I don’t care how it looks.”

Indeed, dressing masculine was a gift of independence. “Society felt like it deserved access to women’s bodies, and Sloppy Joe cardigans obscured that access,” says Clemente. “It’s why the push back was so vehement.”

Did the 2020 that you predicted back in 2016 look like 197 thousand Americans dead of a virus that your leader deliberately downplayed the severity of for months? Did it look like your entire eastern coast in flames, the air across half the country unbreathable, the skies a hazy orange from the smoke and the glow of the fires, and your president saying "climate change has nothing to do with this"? Did it look like over two thousand missing children, who were taken from their parents by "the authorities" and then lost by those same authorities? Two thousand children in the care of a government agency have gone missing, and has your bossman even commented on it, or has he just continued extolling the dangers of immigrants?

Did the 2020 you imagined look like months of civil unrest, because police murdered yet another black man, and instead of condemning the act, your leader said "the answer to this problem is worse police violence, and to beat the protestors into submission."

Like, fuck me. Do you not see how bad it already is? This is what's happened under Trump in four years, and some of you are really out there going "hm yeah but Biden has weak policies tho." Would Biden take a global pandemic seriously? I suspect he would. Would Biden be open to working to stop climate change? He's already said loads about what he'll do to combat climate change. Would Biden completely fail to address the fact that women are being forcibly sterilised in ICE and children are being assaulted and going missing? I would be really surprised if he did nothing about that. Would Biden react to public outrage over cops murdering a civilian by sending in the national guard to attack peaceful protesters, assault journalists, permanently blind innocent civilians, and pepperspray children in the face? I really doubt it.

But Trump has done all that shit; is still actively doing all that shit, right at this very fucking moment. And some of you won't vote for Biden because you're not really a fan of his????

Actually, you know what, I know what it is. Its fucking privilege. Its the privilege of every fucking middle class white person on here who thinks they somehow are taking the high horse because, well, both sides are really as as bad as one another. I mean, Biden is 100% a sexual predatory.

Trump has opened genuine concentration camps, which have left babies alone in cells for days and forcibly castrated people.

The Trump administration has openly admitted to collusion and tampering with the previous election with no negative side effect. 

There has been a steep rise in the number of Nazi/White Nationalist movements in the last four years, to the point where its actually normalised.

The Trump administration has had bleed on effects into other countries such as Australia whose government seems to revere Trump and, by extension, enabled a number of alt-right movements.

The murdock press has had almost unrestrained freedom to tear apart anyone they want because extreme right winged beliefs are now so normal

People are simultaneously doubting the press more than ever, and yet believing it more than ever

Flat Earth and QAnon conspiracy theories exist as a directly result of Trump. WTF. 

There are more extreme cases of police brutality, egged on by self righteous cops who feel empowered by Trump and the rise of the alt-right.

Trump defunding the CDC, completely bungling COVID, resulting in America remaining the largest country effected by COVID and, as other countries are coming down from it, America is still in full force resulting in the highest death toll so far

That’s also ignoring all the people who feel as though they can justify this decision on the grounds that the economy would suffer a bit or the belief that people dying isn’t so bad, as long as its not the worst thing killing people (re: COVID & Flu Deathtoll).

The continuation of the belief that unemployment is good regardless of whether or not the money provided is enough to live on. By extension, he introduced a new tax cut, promises to help the middle/lower class. It didnt, and actually made their tax worse while cutting it for the upper class.

He just fucking lies, constantly. not even shitty politician lies, but outright, fabrications with no weight behind him.

Trump ought to have been kicked out several times over and still hasn’t been

He has used his presidency to promote and sell products

He has used his presidency to avoid conviction. In fact, two weeks after his election he settled three fraud lawsuits related to his university. And that’s among many, many others

He called African countries ‘shitholes’, Mexican people ‘Racists’, and Nazis ‘Very fine people’.

He’s paid people off

He’s incited violence against several groups

Nepotism

And that’s, legit, not everything because his reign of hot fucking nonsense is so thick that we beginning to mistake it for the air we breath. 

I actually don’t care why you don’t like Biden. I don’t care if you think that Obama isn’t actually that good because he was directly involved in the killing of hundred of people during the Iraq War. I don’t care if you think voting means being an active agent in choosing. Trump is among the worst presidents the world has ever faced. Such to the point where the world is beginning to believe his BS, and the only way to cope is to turn a blind eye to it. But fuck that, and fuck you. I’m pulling you out of your ignorance to tell you this. Passivity is a privilege that those who are directly affected by his actions can’t afford to that, and by not voting you are putting lives in danger.
