This is the title page of my HTWG.
I’m making a HTWG for fashion influencer’s caption strategies, specifically ones that bring in maximum comment #s. Would this title page make you think that’s the goal? I am trying to find the best way to word my title to be interesting AND audience-specific (fashion influencers). Let me know what you think!

This is my general layout for the presentation and stuff. I’m just trying to decide if it’s too boring. Of course, there will be more words when I explain, but I just don’t know if I should add other elements.
I think this looks good! I like the style! If you add each tip’s title to differentiate them that would be easier to remember, or maybe a checklist you can screenshot at the end. Overall though it seems like a great format.

Prompt: What are your ideas/suggestions for graphing your data so it's reported in multiple, meaningful ways?
Graphing your data can be an art form in which personally Im not the best at but this is what I've found. Consider combining different graph types, like bar charts for categorical data and line graphs for trends over time. Maybe utilize scatter plots to show relationships between variables. Including dashboards could allow for interactive exploration. Also, keeping in mind the use of colors and labels to make the data clear and engaging.
This is a great point! Combining graphs to give a complete visual of the data is so useful. I used graphs for quantitative and qualitative data, as well as mixed data. It can be confusing to combine but when organized, gives the reader a much clearer understanding.

When I drafted my content analysis, I wanted to break up the text portions with subheadings to make sure I was answering all the questions. These subheadings would also be a way for me to ensure clarity and focus in my writing. The more I work with this outline, the more I feel a little unsure about my strategy. My main worry is that I may write too little or have too much overlap in content. I still plan on breaking up my text with subheadings, but my question is should I break it up less? What outline methods are working for you? Should I scrap this outline and try something else? Thanks y'all!

I think this is a great breakdown for this part of the content analysis. I mostly followed the outline on the assignment overview, but I added extra sections within each to talk about the parts I concluded. I think it’s great to include your own insight as the author of the content analysis. It helps your information to be transparent and reliable.

HTWG: What will be the easiest part of the example content?
The Design!
I use Canva for many projects in my major, and I’m using Canva to design my HTWG as something I could post on my chosen research platform. I designed my HTWG post to use the features of the platform, like tagging, to reach my intended audience of creators. I think the easiest part of my HTWG content will be simulating the styles of the creator category I aimed for. I used fashion content and there are so many example photos on Canva that look like fashion posts. Since my research uses captions, it will be a more difficult part to write captions - as I can apply the tips from my data easily, but I struggle to come up with the influencer personality parts of each example caption.
How do my data elements answer my research question?
My question was: How do content and length of caption affect comment numbers?
My Data Results (after categorizing, averaging and analysis):
16-35 word posts gain the most comments of all categories (0-15, 16-25, 26-35, etc).
Captions using fashion tags and/or prompting, rather than generic tags or stories, also gain the most comments of all categories.
I averaged all my data in categories of word count, styles of caption, and IG tools used. The categories with the most comments on average, identified the elements of the caption that maximize comment #s.
What are your ideas/suggestions for graphing your data?
For my data, in the Content Analysis I used line graphs, bar graphs, and pie charts.
In the HTWG I only used the pie charts to show reasoning for my tips. I wanted the Content Analysis to have more in-depth proof of information through the data and I wanted the HTWG to be more casual but still proven to be useful.
The line graph and bar graph display the same info but two ways to look at it. I intended for this to make it easier to understand depending on individual preferences. The pie charts display my supplemental info so they’re just added details.

What’s my go-to video content?
Reddit stories. They’re funny and sometimes insane and usually unpredictable and always perfect background noise/easy listening for doing dishes or cooking or cleaning. I like the reddit ghost stories, silly stories, AITA, holiday stories, whatever. There are so many subcategories and those funny ones, they really crack me up. Gotta be SMOSH cast reading the reddit stories though, I can’t listen to the brutal ones. People are crazy sometimes. SMOSH keeps it lighthearted.

How are you narrowing your account choices?Â
So obviously I chose Youtube, then went with a popular idea for content, thriller stories because there are loads of channels with this gimmick. I decided I wanted 3 types of content creators (popular, medium popularity, and not so popular). So with these three sections, I googled “top ten story tellers on youtube”, and Thats how I found all my accounts which allowed me to pick from them to from higher placed to lower.
This is really interesting. I spent so much time trying to find profiles with alike following counts and it was kind of difficult to find similar numbers. But it could have been really useful to see what choices may lead to differences in followings/popularity. There are so many opportunities to look for patterns and differences between accounts, especially design differences and web writing strategies. Like do they preface the story in the description? Long title or short title? Multiple stories in one video or only one focus story? Do they caption their content? And how does that all influence their interactions? I’m interested to know your research question and what data you’re going to use! I wanna know what you learn from it/your conclusion too!
Things I Learned in the Last Module and How I Will Apply it to this Project
The main things I learned in our last module on data analysis was to pay attention to everything, take note of everything, and absorb every piece of data. During our practice project, I learned it is important analyze data closely and broadly in order to generate a meaningful conclusion. For this assignment, I plan to use what I learned about collection and analyzation in the last module to help me with this larger, multi-account project. I will also be able to relate data to content decisions with this project by observing how Youtubers may incorporate data into their online publications.
This is a great conclusion from last week’s practice assignment. I feel like I learned something similar using TikTok and that’s what swayed me away from using TikTok as my research platform. You really do have to analyze data both specifically for your research question but also broadly to be sure there aren’t other standout factors that are swaying your results. I initially thought TikTok was great because there’s so many analytics available, but in the data I collected from TiKTok I realized how patternless it all is - even in VERY consistent content. That algorithm is almost like a guessing game it seems. So some numbers are so skewed you can’t really tell what content strategies are working, I don’t know how TikTok creators make decisions based off of that data at all. Youtube and other platforms are definitely more reliable in their algorithms and analytics.
Original Content Writing-On Digital Spaces...
I plan to focus on the digital space of YouTube for my content analyzations. I chose YouTube because I have the most interest in that space since I currently am not active on most other social media spaces, so I will have more interest within YouTube to complete the project in a digital space where I want to be of my own choosing. I also find with YouTube since the formats and mediums are videos, rather than only pictures or texts, that there is much more to analyze within and of the videos rather than a simple image, such as the time frame, cinematography, and audio used within each video to look at the experiences a user can have from its content.
I wanted to do Youtube as well because that’s my preferred platform - but the longer format made it really intimidating to create 20 data sets for each creator. I chose Instagram because I could look at all the content quickly and collect the data I needed, but it definitely made it harder to come up with a research question from the limited data availability. What data element are you going to focus your research on? Curious because I wish I would’ve considered Youtube a little longer before deciding to use Instagram! There’s definitely so much more analytics to choose from on Youtube. I’m sure your research will have a useful conclusion for youtube content creators because there is so much web writing in youtube content.
Research Question
for those of u that look at this & think “I am not reading that”:
TLDR- I’m doing SO MUCH MATH but in short 0-10 words & prompting seems to be the best caption content strategy to reel in the comments. Q is basically “How does caption affect comments?”
Choosing 3 Accounts:
I’m keeping my Instagram content creators in the realm of fashion influencers because they always seem to have a lot of interaction and stylistic options in their clothes & their content strategies. I also enjoy viewing that kind of content. I chose my accounts for this project by looking through fashion influencers on Instagram and finding accounts with similar following #s, similar posting schedules, and making sure they had an adequate amount of recent content. I was able to find three fashion-centered creators with 461-462K followers, all with really consistent posting schedules.

Platform Choice
I chose Instagram as my platform for this week’s project. I am familiar with Instagram and TikTok the most out of all social media platforms. Since TikTok’s algorithm can make data confusing as I learned in the practice project, I’m choosing Instagram for the real project. I also think it will be more fun for me to create example content for Instagram than TikTok. Instagram can provide similar analytics to TikTok for someone researching the content as a viewer. Depending on the creator (because you can disable the visibility of analytics on IG) I can see #s of likes, comments, and shares the same as on TikTok. The only analytic I can’t see on Instagram that I could on TikTok is views, but that’s where Tiktok’s algorithm makes it confusing anyways so it isn’t as useful as I thought it might be.
My Question:
How would you describe content strategy in one sentence?
I’m trying to make my understanding more cohesive but I have trouble finding what’s MOST important, and don’t want to put my focus into a minor aspect.
