Elena usually couldnāt muster up something past a regular smile for someone. It was difficult to keep that plastic on her face when she wasnāt feeling it, when she wasnāt wanting to feel it. Happiness came and went for her. Companionship, she sought out to fill the voids within, and usually, that was the end of it. Letting herself become close to others had been one of her most futile mistakes in her past. She refused to let herself be content to see someone. Yet here was Aria Campbell, of all people - seeking her out. And that made her happy. So despite the tiredness on her face, she managed a smile. A real one.Ā "Well, look who it is." It was a warm greeting, and the clipboard, once a weight in her lap, was now forgotten. She was glad her makeup wasnātĀ asĀ messy as it had once been. But there was still a lot of room for improvement, and she knew it. Not that she gave a damn about how she outwardly appeared most days. But if sheād known -Ā shush, Elena.Ā "Like the hair."Ā She made curling motions with her pointer finger and moved her head to the side. Her hair, fluffed out from the dayās heat, floated about her face. āHow manyād you end up getting? We were on the lower side but hell, less work for me. AndĀ youĀ are my breath of fresh air, let me tell you. I think Iāve been turned to the dark side.ā Quirking her brows, she startled up from the bench, almost dropping the clipboard in her bumbling motion. "Iām real glad you found me."
Crossing her legs and dipping her knees, Aria curtseyed dramatically. Her eyes glinted teasingly, a small blush burning at the skin of her cheeks. "Don't tease. My hair looks terrible right now." She laughed coyly, her hands immediately shooting up to gingerly touch the ringlets arranging them ever so carefully, knowing for a fact they were immaculate.
Elena, on the end of the spectrum, remained naturally flawless. Aria's fingers twitched on her side desperate to run themselves along smoothness of the shining lock of brown hair that sat in disarray. It was the perfect chaos that remained almost mythical. It was evident that Elena was never meant to be human, the lingering scent of wildflowers matched the grin that would be a shame to have been permanently limited to the abilities of the ungifted. She was a freedom that Aria had never experienced sober; it itself was intoxicating.
"We're very particular. Can't just let anyone into the top sorority house, you know." Aria nose kinked, the skin wrinkling as dimples dived into her cheek as she smiled. "We leave the normal stock out of our litter, if you know what I mean." Except they weren't exactly her type anymore, Aria belonged with a new litter.
"I've been thinking about this pack thing." She spat the words out quickly. Leaving her suddenly feeling entirely bare, but especially embarrassed at how the words sounded like a country banjo strum exiting her mouth. Her nostrils flared as she exhaled, composing herself. "But the idea of being some bottom of the barrel puppy sounds absolutely horrid." It might assuage the feelings that, once again, she no longer truly belonged in her home.
