Congrats on the pedestal you now stand on
The eyes you masquerade for
A lie dressed to be naked
I stepped down
Maybe I lowered myself, but,
The view is better from down here
I rather like looking up

Still, Every Day
There are days I don't say your name out loud but it hums beneath everything like electricity in the walls like a song I forgot I memorized
You were never loud about it No grand entrances, no fireworks just a quiet gravity that rearranged my entire world without asking permission
I've loved before or at least I called it that but nothing ever stayed the way you did Nothing ever rooted itself this deep, this permanent
You are in the small things now In the way I pause before sending a message like I'm waiting for your approval In the songs I skip halfway through because they know too much In the empty space beside me that somehow still feels occupied
I wonder if you ever think of me not in the big, dramatic ways I've rehearsed a thousand times but in passing like when you smell something familiar and can't place why it hurts
Because I think of you daily Not always painfully sometimes it's softer than that Sometimes it's just… missing a version of myself that only existed when you were there
I don't chase you anymore I don't write your name in places I hope you'll see But you've become a quiet ritual in my life like breathing like remembering
And I think that's the cruelest part not that you left but that you stayed everywhere else
So I carry you in the background of my days in the silence between thoughts in the spaces no one else reaches
The only person I ever truly loved and the one I never really left behind
Little Girl
There was a little girl
Carefree and innocent
Confident and unknowing
She wore polka dots and stripes
Not caring what anyone said
Not caring about the whispers
Not even noticing
Too proud to have chosen the clothes herself
Her world started and ended with her parents
And she trusted the world
Never hid anything
Was perfect
Or so they thought
As she grew up
Something changed
Whispers became voices yelling in her head
Her world shattered and crumbled
The innocence broken
She tried to find a solution
But where?
She learned to crave the burn of alcohol
The sting
The rush of knowing this was wrong
She still wanted to be perfect
But now she knew she never could
Guilt battled with want
What happened to the little girl?
Surely I didn’t just grow up
Taste of Freedom
It burns going down
But you love it anyways
You crave it
You need it
You know it’s bad, but who cares?
Not you
You throw it back it one practiced go
Your lips go numb
Your throat burns
A nice heat settles in your stomach
And nothing else matters anymore

Bungee
I stood there
High above, looking at the horizon
Looking at the rushing water below
Everything seemed so distant
The ropes were all set, it was time
What if this went wrong?
The countdown started
5, No turning back
4, I walked to the edge
3, It will be fine?
2, Too late now
1, I jumped
I screamed, free falling
The water rushed by below
I felt the bungee stretch,
Suddenly, the water seemed too close
Then the bungee recoiled, I was falling upwards
Flying, weightless, free
I started going down again
This time, I was ready
This time, I knew everything was okay
After all, you only need a bungee
if you want to jump twice
