It was just a random out of town plan with friends. I was excited since it will be another fun weekend with my close friends. A one hour boat ride away, we stayed in Coco Groove Resort in Siquijor Island, Philippines. It was my boyfriend’s first time in the island so we were just busy touring him. We were busy taking pictures, having selfies and the like that I didn’t notice that my other friends went on different directions. One went to the restaurant to confirm our intimate dinner date, one instruced the staff on what to do and prepare for the special dinner and one was just too serious on her selfie. It was well planned that I didn’t notice anything unusual. After all the swimming and eating, we decided to meet up for dinner. Come dinner time, my boyfriend told me that we’ll take a short walk near the pool area. I noticed a hut filled with petals and candles but it didn’t ring a bell since we just passed by it. My boyfriend told me we’ll just order our viand for dinner so went up to the restaurant. One waiter directed us to the hut filled with petals and candles. I was a bit confused but my boyfriend told me it was his post monthsary gift for me and that an intimate dinner was something we don’t do often. Giddy as I am, I took a picture of the hut and enjoyed all the appetizers and main course. And to think we have a private waiter which makes it more cool. I was a bit worried since it was just the two of us eating, I was concered with all our other friends but my boyfriend assured me that they will just eat when they’re hungry. Yup, that made me laugh so hard. While waiting for our dessert, I noticed that there were people setting up a projector next to our hut. I was a bit confused but realized thay it was not intended for us and that they were just preparing it for an event. With my diveded attention, from waiting for the dessert, for this intimate dinner, and for the men who were putting up the projector, I was not able to internalize what my boyfriend was saying up until a video appeared on the projector. There it was playing the most cheesiest love song while a slideshow of our pictures were shown. An Ed Sheran song struck me, with the lyrics “settle down with me”..there!! I cried!! And all of a sudden there was a noise coming from my back, all I saw were sparklers! My friends came and they were bringing the sparklers, a banner which says “Will You Marry Me?” and yes the most awaited dessert..a lemon cheese cake which contained THEEE ring!! Then I just saw my boyfriend on his knees, asking my hand in marriage. It was a long pause on my part since I was sobbing like a kid!!! Then I finally said YES!!! Celebarting thay special night with my “fiance” and close friends was truely magical. It was one out of town weekend that will be forever cherished and yes that lemon cheese cake will never be forgotten. And mind you, out of all proposal stories, mine is my favorite. I will be Mrs. Cafe next year and life will never be the same. :)
