i’m hoping to learn more about Adela in Vol. 3 — her being Mozarab and seeing the tension between her and Marta has been fun to read. would it be possibly to know the source materials you used to write her character? or any readings/documentaries you recommend? you’ve answered before that “malhat” (what Adela called Marta during one of their arguments) translates to bitch in Arabic, i would love to know where you learned that.

you’ve also mentioned before how Adela knows 5 languages. it’s safe to assume those are English, Spanish, Italian, Arabic (or at least Mozarabic), but the fifth im not sure. would Latin count?

I would recommend The Crusades Through Arab Eyes by Amin Maalouf and Medieval Spain: Culture, Conflict, and Coexistence by Roger Collins! I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but these two books inspired a lot of what's going on in the background with Adela (which will become more prominent in Volume 3).

Latin would indeed be the fifth language! For "malhat," I must admit that I have a boring answer and just cross-referenced a couple of dictionaries looking for a good curse word for Adela to throw at Marta.
