with kanji, his whole thing is abt toxic masculinity and being ashamed of liking feminine things and liking men. It was handled poorly, but the core themes are still there. If the devs are referring to kanji’s story being rewritten to be more tasteful, sure. if it’s being rewritten almost entirely, because kanji’s entire arc was pretty much treated like a joke from the get go? not sure how happy i’d be with that.

With yosuke, which i feel is probably more likely what atlus is talking about, he does make homophobic jokes and remarks at kanji’s expense. pretty much exclusively for the audience’s amusement, but i do feel it’s significant characterization. ESPECIALLY in the context that yosuke was most likely written to be a love interest to yu. yosuke’s got internalized homophobia turned external, tale as old as time. it would make sense for atlus to remove these jokes because the intention probably was not to characterize yosuke in such a way, but they did. so it would feel like a weird retcon, but much better than if they messed with kanji to a significant degree.

moving to a town he didnt even want to go too and immediately hated by the residents cause junes is killing the local businesses. as well the fact his friends from the city didnt even bother to message him has me so... ouh

probably as well didnt really have people to call his friends as well... yeah he probably talked to chie and yukiko but probably didnt class each other as friends, maybe more as classmates than friend...
