Breanah raised one shoulder in a shrug. "We should be careful though, they could realize that people aren't coming at the traditional lunch hours and start coming earlier and creating the lunch rush earlier." It would become a vicious cycle that they would have to adapt to or prepare their own meals for the day but as much as Breanah enjoyed cooking (a lot) even she could do with a day where she didn't eat what she made herself. "It's both the best and worst time to go shopping. If I wait too long, I end up preparing myself for my turn on Chopped and there were times that it wasn't pretty. I also have a bad habit of making more food than I can eat myself so I either have the same thing for days on end or I take it in to work and my employees have something to eat." It happened more than she cared to admit but at least she knew that whatever she made would be eaten by someone before it had to be tossed out.

It would never end. Any solution she thought of just seem to create more problems. Maybe this was a sign that she should delegate her lunch to her assistant. Miry didn’t even understand why she had one, it wasn’t like she ever made her do anything. Her publisher should know that she was the worst at ordering someone else around. “See but I have learned that those episodes are the best. One time during college I was so broke all I had was a bag of those elbow pasta thingy — and ketchup and mayo. Ended up mixing it together and it was perhaps one of the best meals I had ever had at that time.” She wouldn’t be serving anyone else that but that night she had felt like she was eating like a queen. When Miray had left to go do her own thing it hadn’t been easy. Her family hadn’t approved and the people she had thought she would be able to fall back on ended up failing her. Miray nodded her head in sympathy because that was something the brunette was still struggling with. “I always cook too much. Thankfully I have a friend that doesn’t mind helping me out. Him and his son — but I feel that.”

Breanah let out a small laugh, followed by a shrug. She wasn't wrong - the lunch rush should have been done and over with by now but it seemed that a lot of people were taking late lunches or extending them anyway. "Unless they're looking for an afternoon pick-me-up? Taking a nap at three isn't a huge thing here as it is but I'm pretty sure it's not very common in Spain anymore either so we have to turn to coffee instead." The daily nap didn't seem like a terrible idea in most cases, especially on those where it was already tough to get going but deep down inside, Breanah knew herself well enough to know that she would definitely rather have the coffee and continue working than stop her day for a nap.

You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy. Some things should be let go but some are just too much of a weight. Even if you thought, it just takes one thing to trigger that particular memory, place or person. They lost touch. That was what it boiled down to. Regardless of the factor or reason why. Life was ever changing. Unfortunately. Ezra hadn’t expected their first genuine meeting after so many years to be easy but he didn’t realize how difficult it would be. It was right in that moment. In her presence, there seemed to be pent up frustrations or feelings on both ends. He could take accountability for that in his involvement of this. Just not quite so openly as he would have liked. There was always this non confrontational persona he held from years of his past. “Probably not much but the offer still stands. That was a long time ago. It’s crazy how quickly time pasts.” He reflected truthfully. “We adjusted. As most do.” Ezra added. But he too was happy for her own growth.

The couple of times that she had allowed her mind to wander to their potential reunion she had always thought she would give him hell. Make him realize how badly he had messed up and reclaim everything. Now here it was playing it out and she found herself wanting him in any capacity, just as long as he was back in her life. Which said a lot about her if she was honest. Not all that she liked but she knew she had to table that conversation for later. His words wanted to ignite the fire but what good would that do? One thing was writing a woman spewing words on the sidewalk and getting her moment and it was another thing when that notion wished to play out in real life. They both would lose if she stood there and told him that she told him so. How much time they had wasted for no solid reason. Miray forced herself to take comfort in the fact that things happened for a reason. “When you tell me what good that will do — I’ll think about it. For now, I am going to choose peace.” She had too much war in her life to actively go choosing to pick up another one. “Didn’t make it any easier.” She had wanted to say she had missed him, but she bearing too much as is.

“See that’s where you’re wrong. I never once thought the odds were against you.” He countered back. Fully disagreeing on what she had assumed was his logic. “But it’s all in the past now. I guess though you will never let me live that down.” Whether it be a grudge or what not. “If it helps. You can say I told you so.” His words were spoken with edge, almost in defense but Ezra was effected even now. By her narrative that she thought he didn’t believe in her and her dreams. He was just scared to create something new for himself. His past was like his burden and even though he had wings at the time and was free by all stances, fear was like a weight that held him down. Maybe she was right. He was afraid to put himself into unfamiliar territory. A coward. He sighed upon a response. His own version of an admittance. “If that is your own way of asking if I am happy with my life then yes. I might have never left like you did to explore all of the options but I value what I have here. I’m an artist. It gives me a peace and purpose.” And an escape. It doesn’t matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes. What matters most is getting off. You cannot make progress without making decisions. “So, if you ever need to get a tattoo.” He started to muse but shook his head. “However I’m sure you wouldn’t give me the trust and control for that.” Ezra couldn’t blame her given how the conversation was now after all these years. “You probably should ask yourself that. I take it my company has been resonating bitterness for you. Do you really want to put yourself through that?” Not yet agreeing or disagreeing but the tone from their earlier musings suggested that she was only wanting to get the upper hand. So if he had to decline, then he would take that blame once more.

The words processed through her as she grimaced slightly. Looking down, she knew that she could go head to head with him but she didn’t see the point of it. “What good would that do?” She asked in a defeated tone before looking back at him. The damage had been done, hadn’t it? They had severed the tie between them and created two different lives. Nothing she said or he said could truly heal that wound. Time just made it bearable. She was able to breathe and stand in front of him and not collapsed as she would’ve if this interaction would’ve taken a lot sooner than today. I told you so, was not going to truly change anything. If anything it would make things worse between them. “Then that is all that matters. I just wanted you to be happy. Even if it meant without me.” The latter part had been the hardest pill to swallow. That the two of them had decided — well not only decided, but it had also been proven that they could live without each other. She would argue their quality of life would have been different but that was probably cause she was all in her emotions. As great as emotions were for writing they served no purpose in the real life. That much he had shown her, and for that she was thankful. It had saved her some pain here and there, even if she still had a romantic notion of how life was supposed to work out at least he had managed to give her some kind of armor to deal with life.

The woman had limited hours that she was able to just chill. They were rare, therefore she held them close to her heart. Though not really, not to mention that waiting wasn’t the worst thing for her. After all, she had her phone and was able to try and beat that stupid one-level on candy crush that was killing her. Miray refused to pay any money to this app so her struggle was real. Once Talita made her presence known she slid the phone back into her hands, closing the app and letting it be bygone. At least for tonight. “You’re telling me that your niece managed to come up with that idea?” She observed as she took a quick scan at the outfit she was wearing, “If so you might need to send her over so she can help me.” Miray said with a chuckle. “Please tell me their snack menu is decent?” The brunette had forgotten to squeeze a meal in between work and this.
