The psp game saying that Homura is an orphan means that Homura’s parents must have died. So I wonder: When? Maybe when she was a baby so she has no memory of her parents. Before becoming a magical girl, perhaps she looks them up to try and connect herself to strangers she’ll never meet. After becoming a magical girl, she barely thinks about them.
Or maybe they died when she was still old enough to remember glimpses. If she concentrates hard enough, she can remember things that no longer seem relevant. But with each time loop, she forgets about them more and more. She can return to the past but she has no time to dwell on it.
