Animal agriculture is like "what if instead of eating plant protein, we give all of our plants to animals, lose like 90% of caloric value down the food chain resulting in unmanageable workload with low output, cause global starvation epidemic, clear every forest on Earth, monocrop, and cause climate change-- BUT it comes with the added bonus of torturing and murdering animals!" And 99% of humans just nodded their heads along like "that is so fucking cool I really enjoy the part of torturing animals and consuming the flesh of innocent babies, especially considering it's optional and not necessary at all"

a suspicious amount of anti-vegans who talk about vegetables being unethical seem to immediately stop caring once the topic switches off veganism. I've never heard one of them talk about the environmental impact of almonds other than as a retort to vegans. And why aren't they outside of wholefoods protesting quinoa? It's almost as if anti-vegans don't actually care about making the world better and only engage with ethics to defend themselves from having to do anything.
