1. The Giver
10/10
- this book was a masterpiece
- everything the world building, the characters, the pacing, the plot, it all flowed together so well
- Jonas the absolute goat 😭 his character development was handled so well. They did him so dirty in the movie though
- Gabriel and Jonas are just such a cute duo I love them to bits
- I have no words, this book just blew me away. The first time I’ve ever cried in class over a school assigned book.
- we need to kill jonas’s father
2. Gathering Blue
8.5/10
- to be honest I at first didn’t really like this book.. idk why it just threw me off and was hard to follow at first but I got the hang of it eventually
- Kira’s arc is insanely well written.
- the blind old man being her father shocked me to my core
- Jo and Thomas are such cuties I wish we got more content on them!
- it is a very good sequel to a book as good as the giver.
- Kira’s community was WILD like I’m crying what was their problem
- Matty is the GOAT for getting her that blue at the end
- disabled female protag gaining independence? And having a well handled arc? YES PLEASE!!
- loses a few points for my boredom at the start
- I could make so many connections to the giver as I read

- Seer and Matty reminded me so much of the giver I’m missing them like a BITCH
- Jonas feels like a whole other person in this book. Maybe it’s the whole different name but I just don’t feel like connection to him as much as I did in The Giver
- I loved it, it was a nice book and its plot was really nice
- Kira’s independence again, handled insanely well
- how do you write commentary
- Jean and Matty were so cute

- oh my god where do I even start?
- I don’t think I’ve ever seen a character that was ruined just as much as Jonas was in this book.
- Kira and Jonas’s romance was insanely rushed and it should have never even happened???
- part 2 was such a mess, I hated it, skimmed over all of it.
- it was always contradicting itself and made things that just didn’t make sense for what Lois Lowry was trying to write here.
- why was Kira just a housewife??
- part 1 is this books saving grace
- it’s an insanely lazy and messy ending in my opinion
- Gabriel deserved SO MUCH BETTER. Why was his arc just teenage angst? Why did he defeat the trade master by just talking at him? Why was his power barely even expanded on? Why was he dumbed down in his own home to just “the baby Jonas saved”?
- I just don’t know what there thing went wrong. I thought it’d be a nice ending but… wow. I’m trying to find the heart to be kind about this

Literally my exact thoughts on the books. Especially son. Part 1? AMAZING!!! Loved seeing another persons perspective on the dystopian world from giver. Part 2 and 3 just were such a total downgrade from part 1. I’ll some of my own rankings not as detailed tho.
The giver: 10/10! Changed my view on the world
Gathering blue: 8/10! Not as good but kira was a nice protagonist and matt and thomas were good characters.
Messenger: 7.5/10 really good but has points taken as the last chapters of the book were just matty and kira suffering
Son: 4/10 could’ve been a 3 but gets a point for part one being amazing

so many people genuinely underestimate just how much men are taught to hate women expressing any agency at all and how much they will go out of their way to discredit women even at their own detriment…for example that video feed where a woman got stuck in an elevator with 12 teenage boys and whenever she tried to alert maintenance that the elevator malfunctioned a few of those boys very loudly talked over her and gave conflicting information JUST to get a reaction out of her. there were so many comments basically saying that it wasn’t fair to bunch in every one of those boys with the deliberately harmful few because they didn’t TECHNICALLY do anything to interfere with the situation but the thing is they r all complicit…not once did they think to tell their friend to shut the fuck up or do ANYTHING other than stand with their hands folded and giggle at this woman begging them to be quiet. it really just feels like the same old story where time and time again men prove that they just don’t see women as their equals at all and that when push comes to shove they are just as untrustworthy and unreliable as their peers through their own negligence and pacifism
Does anyone else think that when one said, “He doesn’t seem like much of a threat anyway” it was foreshadowing smth? Idk maybe I’m delusional. Anyway enjoy the fireafy <3
