Apparently, these stone masks of Nicolas, Goutha, and perhaps more we've yet to see will act similar to the phone calls in the first game, providing some sort of guidance!

I imagine that Mercury's abstraction allows this to occur, as he's now a blank slate for new faces to take shape. I would also like to call to attention Mercury on the far right in "In Aspect Of The Ancient Moon"

In general, I think the whole art was foreshadowing such!
