Doolally

Hey all, quick update. So some things and stuff have happened in my personal life that, short term, have made writing difficult and, long term, is going to reduce the amount of time I have to write. I have no intention of dropping this story, but progress may (or may not, hopefully) be slower. Thank you all for your understanding

Good(?) news, you can now die in Doolally! There will be an anti-frustration option to try again from a checkpoint (because some deaths may include randomised elements) any stat gains/losses/info learnt up until death will be kept, although ‘trying again’ will increase madness (and no, the MC won’t remember. Mostly.)

Progress update! Progress is happening, I’m currently about halfway through the chapter 1 rewrite. It will be shorter than the original chapter 1, and I’m trying (and slowly failing) to make it a bit less branchy, because I was tired of it taking a week to write a conversation. That being said, the branches are more meaningful now, some characters will or won’t be present depending on branch, (this isn’t going to matter romance wise, I intend for romance to work the same as before, though there might be extra scenes) and you might learn different things. Thank you to everyone following, I’ll try to update sooner than two months next time

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates! Happy Sunday to those who don’t. I’m planning on restarting Doolally soon, I’ve got plenty of Ideas and something resembling a plot (the middle is still a bit iffy, but that’s just how I roll) and I’m feeling excited to get started again! I will be rewriting (yes, again, yes, it’s going to look quite different), so it might be a little while before I post anything readable, but I thought I’d just drop a post to let you all know that progress is happening!

Just a quick update to say that I’m putting Doolally on temporary hiatus, I’ve been struggling to write recently and it’s felt more like a chore than fun. Thank you to everyone who’s read and commented on Doolally so far, and hopefully it won’t take too long for me to get back into writing!

Progress update! Things are progressing, slowly. I’m through the rewrites for the start of chapter 2, so I’ve finally been able to write new stuff, yay! The variables are piling up, I’m just waiting to trip over them, and yet I can’t stop myself from adding more. A regret for future me, no doubt. I’ll be writing the market route soon, after that I think I’ll be a third of the way through chapter 2. I’m hoping the market route won’t take too long, since I’ll update demo once it’s done. And that’s it for this update 😁

Progress update! Things are still going slow, unfortunately, but I’m off work for the next two weeks so hopefully I can make up for that. I’ve finished slowing the demo down (though I’ll wait to upload the rest of chapter 1 first). I’ve cleaned up most of the conversations with Emilia and Jesse, rewrote most of the ending and am currently poking at the dancing stuff. I’m thinking about reworking the romance system a bit, because currently those scenes generally have: friendly choice, unfriendly choice, flirty, shy and tsundere choices, which is a bit repetitive, boring and unnecessary (to me, at least), so I’m experimenting with mixing it up a bit. If it works, I’ll update, if not... eh, we’ll forget I ever poked at it 😁
