I have a headcanon that Edwin turns into Orbwin every time gets majorly annoyed with Charles or they have an argument. He's just a ball of light, sitting on the desk silently. He's unmoving and unspeaking and just wants to Make a Dramatic Point. Once he gets tired of it and is cool with interacting again he stops being Orbwin and turns back.

Charles also uses his Chorb form, but differently. Chorb appears when Edwin is busy with a task, usually reading, but Charles wants attention. Charles-light-ball pops into existence on Edwin's shoulder, rolls down his arm, and settles into the pages of the book/notebook. If Edwin moves him, Chorb does it again until he gets attention.

They also have the Great Orb Incident of '02, where Edwin got so annoyed with Chorb's interference with his task that he became Orbwin and sat on the table. Chorb was stuck on the couch. They sat like that for a full day and it became more of a contest to see who could orb out for longer. Neither of them wanted to give in and be the first to switch back. (Finally, Charles caved solely because he required more stimulation than just rolling in circles on the sofa, and he lamented Edwin's endless patience.)
