How Does Ball Mill Work?
Its working principle is based on two core mechanisms: impact and grinding/friction.
The process involves feeding raw materials into the ball mill through a hollow shaft at one end. Driven by a motor, the cylinder rotates at a controlled speed (typically 15-30 rpm, depending on the model). The grinding media rise and fall under gravity, impacting the material with high force. This impact breaks down large particles. During rotation, the grinding media slide and roll against each other, rubbing against one another. The shearing and frictional forces generated by this motion grind the material into a fine powder, ensuring that the desired particle size (typically 0.074-0.89 mm) is achieved. Finally, the material is discharged from the outlet of the ball mill.
