This week Jen Bergensten or @Jeb_ of @MojangTeam released the Minecraft Weekly Snapshot for week 27 (12w27a.) By the way, before I start, I want to apologize for not adding last weeks snapshot to the blog, but, I have good reason. I went to the cottage last weekend where I had no internet, my tablet broke unexpectedly and is in the mail now, hopefully being fixed. I am writing this weeks installment from my BlackBerry BOLD 9900, and last week there was so little done in the snapshot, that I didn't see an urgent need for it to be updated. Once again for those of you who where unable to get info on last weeks snapshot I apologize, but I'll definitely make it up to you with this weeks post. So, without further ado, let's get on with it. This week, @Jeb_ also covered everything that will be added into Minecraft as of the 1.3 update release. The official release date has also been stated, being August 1st, 2012! Less from a month from now all Minecraft fans will be bathing in all the amazing updates! I'll try to reiterate everything that @Jeb_ said, but first, I want to cover what was added in this weeks snapshot. This week, not to much was added, but I'm positive that @MojangTeam has been working very hard on this update for a very long time. @Jeb_ announced that they added new bug fixes, some optimization updates, as well as a pretty important piston update. @Jeb_ announced that people should check their piston contraptions in order to see if they are still functioning properly. Pistons now work smoother, will update differently and take more time to update. This may cause for some to be forced to change the delays on redstone repeaters, which shouldn't be to much of a problem. That's's it for this weeks snapshot update, and now onto all of what 1.3 will have to offer. Most likely the biggest change made is that Minecraft is no longer a single player game, no single player mode is actually available. All worlds are constantly running a server in the backround, making for easy multiplayer capabilities. This doesn't mean that you can't play alone, you can. but the server will always be running in the backround. In addition to this @MojangTeam will be able to pump out updates faster due to the fact that they only have to make one bug fix. To explain, before the 1.3 update, @MojangTeam would have to come up with two ways to fix the same glitch, one for single player, and one for multiplayer. Now, they just have to make one for servers (Multiplayer) because all worlds now become servers. This will mean that the 1.4 release, will have a lot smaller gap between it and 1.3, than 1.3 did between 1.2.5. A great addition that will help Minecraft grow even further. 1.3 will include tons and tons of bug fixes and glitch patches, and the game will run a lot smoother both on single and multiplayer, unfortunately, some bugs, (like the lighting glitch where blocks or chunks appear to be black,) have not been fixed because there has been no way to fix them without dropping framerate as of right now. As always, however, the great people at @MojangTeam are definitely working hard to change that. Some encription has been added to multiplayer to help with session stealing problems, a new multiplayer chat screen with working links, as well as more LAN server options. In addition, players wll be able to use simple commands such as /give in single player mode, but only if "cheats" are enabled in the options menu. Emeralds, Emerald Ore, and Emerald Blocks have been added, as well as the Testificate trading system, which I losely covered in my 12w25a snapshot overview. @MojangTeam also added new terrain features, the ability to write in books, and the option to start the game with a "bonus chest" to give you a little head start on the game. They've added trip wires, allowing players to build new traps. They added a whole slew of item updates, including a new gravel texture, and the ability to obtain ice blocks with a silk touch pickaxe again. (Ice broken in the Nether will no longer create water, though.) They've also added experience orbs that drop by mining and smithing, making it alot easier to level up. In addition, the new level cap is now 30 and it takes the same number of experience to reach level thirty, as it does to reach level one. (It is no longer the old way where it was harder to gain level 49 than it was to gain level 29.) I pressume that there will be some more chunk errors and rendering issues due to the new single player sever update, but @Jeb_ says that it will be fixed by 1.4. Last but not least, @MojangTeam added a basic version of "Adventure Mode" wich wll be updated in 1.4. Phew! That is of updates!
