Hercules was troubled.
On Mt. Olympus there were two distinct groups.  The âgodsâ who ruled it by often bullying the other group, the lowly  âmortals.â
Ego and power ruled the day.
But Hercules was half god and half mortal. Â He was strong but frustrated because all the gods used their strength for was to further feed their egoâs. Â
He wanted to do something with his strength to honor the one spirit⌠the one GOD in heaven above them all (then called Zeus) and also âupliftâ those below.
Inspiration came to him!  He devised a race that both mortals and gods would participate inâŚÂ
to CELEBRATE their respective strengths! Â To share in the experience, instead of stealing others joy to feed our ego.
So much excitement was created by this concept that it swept up all - gods and mortals who both treated each other with respect for the first time, on this playing field of sport.
The race was dedicated to Zeus. Â And all anyone remembers is the fellowship it created. Â So much so that no one bothered to even record who won.
And this is the ancient legend behind the founding of the first Olympic Games on Mt. Olympus.
May the games ahead, and the wonderful athletes we cheer experience the same feeling.
Perhaps theyâll also realize that in fact they are ALL winners, just for ârunning the race.â

These Gyms / Studio's are filled with members paying top prices... what do they do "right" to create this success? (this is what I teach in my workshops and as a consultant / coach...). Considering how many complain there isn't enough of a "market" out there to succeed... it makes me wonder if maybe they're missing out on providing the right services / high level of service to people who truly appreciate it. Something to think about...

The London Olympic games begin in 55 days. Â Are you ready?
This blog is addressed to my clients / students in sports science, Â the fitness professionals, my newly awarded Masters of fitness design. Â And all the personal trainers, coaches and sports physicians I have trained. Â
And, the many Olympians I have served over the years. Few events generate such excitement for physical activity and sports. Â
And few events can motivate the people you serve to try and find their own "inner Olympian" like these two weeks of "the games."Â And motivate them to look up to YOU as their guide... to help them light and carry their own torch. It's time to prepare...Â
History and tradition and symbols all come together with dedication and physical training to create magic. Â
It inspires us all and if you focus your business to "fan the flames" of this enthusiasm and encourage those you serve to carry the torch in their own lives, then you can use this to create so much good.
And success for your clients, and yourself.
For at these games there will be some person or sport or story that they can each relate to, and find a little of themselves in. Â
Start preparing now. Â Have an "Opening Ceremonies" party with healthy food at your studio, or home.
Invite your clients to start experimenting with an Olympic sport now as part of their training, and use the games as a way to teach and motivate them to go into it with greater depth. Â
It will inspired consistency. Â Goals. Â Achievement.
And you can be the one who brings them there. Â Teaches them the techniques that the Olympians use to achieve greatness, and apply it appropriately in the work of your clients.
Some companies are paying millions of dollars to just put the Olympic logo on their bag of French Fries hoping the public will unconsciously relate the "emotion" of the Olympics with their product. Â
You represent the foundation of EVERY sport that is brought into that Olympic Stadium with the nations. Â You are the expert and leader. Â
Start your Olympic preparation today, and watch how this event can inspired greatness in all you serve.
HÊlène Grimaud Beethoven Choral fantasy (by heleneGrimaudTV)
a little artistry to end the evening. Â
HÊlène Grimaud is in inspiring artist, nature activist, author and brings an energy to classical music that I can only imagine the composers would have wished to hear.  Her Emperor Concerto inspires me like little else on earth.  Enjoy
NYC sunset. Breathe it in.
Sale of Pepsi, etc is down... but is this a good thing?
Good news but, the #1 "soft drink" is now the "energy" drinks with insane amounts of sugar, caffeine, etc... so this isn't completely good news.
I wish the world would discover how perrier with lemon rocks.
If we take a moment to consider if that drink will serve us BEST, it could change our choices forever.
Great article in the NY Times.

Should we be going to 2 or 3 different gyms every day?
A powerful (and in some ways disturbing...) article in the NY Times yesterday (on the front page) showcased women in NY and LA who are going to 2 or 3 different gyms a day as their "only way" to train and achieve their goals (which seem primarily to be "staying in great shape" with only one saying "for energy.")Â
In my opinion if they were doing it right, wouldn't one be enough? But look at how many are frantically seeking a solution that doesn't seem to be achievable with only one Fitness Consultant. And, perhaps some of these people are addicted to training because of a bigger issue regarding their body image. That is disturbing to me and as a doctor I saw too many people hiding their body issues behind obsessive training.
But there could be one other huge issue motivating this, and it could impact your future (and business) in a huge way...Â
Is this frantic search not for fitness but rather part of a future trend I've been preparing my clients to welcome as a building block for their company growth... Perhaps they're not going to these different groups to "train" at all, (that may be secondary) but rather are looking for a form of LIVE social networking (meeting human beings that they have something essential in common with) that they can enjoy!  Don't discount this prediction of mine as the patterns have been building for a while now. The internet isn't enough for chatting. People are looking for some interesting "face time" with a real face in front of them. It's worth reading and asking ourselves if our programs are enough for people to grow with "alone," and is it also fulfilling other "needs" they have (like a place to socialize) which a creative business (like yours) can deliver. Here's the article in yesterday's NY Times.
Let me know your thoughts,

Insightful article in NY Times Magazine today (buy it!) on the "comeback of McDonalds."
Read to learn how they used powerful business marketing techniques to influence public opinion and recover from the negative "pink slime" and "supersize me" publicity.
Great business education here...
But a little frightening in viewing how you can get the public to believe anything if marketed deftly.
