The Hoover Building - Western Avenue - LondonHoover Factory Western Avenue, Greenford, UB6 8BW Architects: Wallis Gilbert & Partners, 1931-38 This London landmark was the office and factory for the Hoover company from 1933. The glazed facade gives the appearance of a floorless expanse, although in fact it has several floors. The whole area of the ground floor was used as a workshop. The American-style building decorated with bright coloured faience (glazed ceramic inspired by ancient Egypt. The floodlighting, which it still has today, was part of the original design scheme.
