( 𝖳𝖧𝖤 𝖡𝖫𝖠𝖢𝖪 𝖢𝖠𝖳 ) theodora has the capability of shifting into several different things: [ cats, crows, bats, moths, ravens. + more. ] but her favorite form, and the one that fits her the most is a black cat. many of theodora's characteristics and mannerisms as a human can easily be compared to that of a feline if one was to pay close enough attention. this is the form by which she carries over into her human form the most, ( though she absolutely does have more subtle traits or interests she gained from the other animals she shifts into. ) there is something undoubtedly feline about everything theodora does in her human form.
symbolism: the black cat is often associated with witchcraft, evil, or bad luck— which alone are common misconceptions, but big contenders in why theodora prefers this form over the others. in italy, it was believed that if a black cat laid on the bed of a sick person, that person would die. this particular belief stuck with her given her state of being as a cosmic death entity. but ... the most solidifying reasons are because of the superstition, mystery, and the way the black cat is outcasted by a significant portion of cultures and in society. theodora favors outcasts and considers herself to be one.
⁽ ⁰¹ ⁾ lingering eye contact. this could mean several things and it's not always good, but when accompanied with slow blinks it often means that theodora is feeling content or expressing feelings of love or affection. ⁽ ⁰² ⁾ "sunbathing". likely something most people wouldn't expect given her gothic lifestyle, but theodora genuinely enjoys sunbathing and will do it as often as possible during summer months and on vacations. ⁽ ⁰³ ⁾ head - tilts. she does this often, mostly prompted by curiosity, or if someone has the audacity. ⁽ ⁰⁴ ⁾ side eye. another thing that she does frequently, particularly when she's disappointed or bothered by someone's presence. ⁽ ⁰⁵ ⁾ random materialization. has been known to scare people with how quiet she is when entering a room, she often just appears ... which confuses humans because they don't understand that she actually did just materialize out of nowhere.
some other things she maintains: pupils dialate when she feels playful or predatory, head butts and cheek rubs when she feels affectionate, gets the zoomies at random times but mostly in the middle of the night, vanishes for hours and pretends like nothing happened when she returns, low growls when she's grumpy, moves things out of place ( usually stopped before they fall to the floor ) when she's bored, acts mildly possessed sometimes, ambushes people when they least expect it, always extremely dramatic even when it comes to something like a gentle nudge, obsessively smooths her hair or clothes, hates closed doors, fidgets with soft fabrics and blankets when she's comfortable, likes to sit perched in high spaces, pretends not to care but hovers nearby, lack of personal space for the one she seeks attention from, constant stretching, staring into the void, biting. ( this is a big one! )
like a cat, theodora is selectively affectionate with everyone but her chosen person. theodora doesn't understand the concept of personal space and often inserts herself between her person and whatever has their attention at the time. she can get easily jealous when the attention is not on her. she follows them around the house, from room to room, rarely giving them a chance for alone time unless it is explicitly asked of her. if theodora chooses someone, she does not take that bond lightly.
theodora's cat form, much like her in general, is not typical. there are a few things that separate her from other shapeshifting entities. her fur is dark, but it shimmers like the night sky under the moonlight. it's subtle, but noticeable and very captivating. her eyes glow purple more frequently in her cat form, despite maintaing her usual green. her fangs protrude when her mouth is closed. she leaves dark trails behind her as she walks and if you happen to walk in that path in the few seconds it's there, you could be transported to another realm.
she can speak telepathically to whomever she chooses when in this form, but her control over this ability is null and void when she comes in contact with someone who also has telepathic abilities.
she can melt into shadows and slip between different realities, or slip through walls with ease. if you make eye contact with her for too long while in this form, you may see visions of your death playing in her eyes.
more cat - coded characteristics while in human form, her voice: it's low, warm, and even. hardly ever spikes, but instead it vibrates, almost like she's purring. she smiles with her eyes first. she keeps her hands close to her body, almost in a protective manner. theodora carries herself with confidence. her sensuality is effortless, not performative. she's always watching, weighing options, and ready to strike— which plays into her predatory nature. mysterious and able to blend in when necessary.
