𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐍𝐏𝐂𝐒
A reference guide for npcs that may be addressed by Clive in canon verse threads. This list will probably expand as I continue the game. In alternate verses, these characters may still be relevant, but I will be sure to explain their affiliations to Clive as they come up.
𝐉𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐊 ( 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃 )
The Dominant of Shiva. A childhood friend, adopted sibling, and fighting companion to Clive. A political hostage, Jill was taken from her family in the North and given to the Rosfields as a child to ensure the safety of the nation. While she was a ward to the family, Elwin Rosfield ( Clive's father ) raised her like a daughter; she was raised alongside Clive and Joshua as a sibling. However, they were all separated during the Tragedy of Phoenix Gate, only to be reunited with Clive 13 years later. She now travels with him, supporting his vision and offering aid on the battlefield. Jill is Clive's canonical love interest. This dynamic is very unlikely to be explored on this blog.
𝐉𝐎𝐒𝐇𝐔𝐀 𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃 ( 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 )
The Dominant of the Phoenix. Clive's baby brother, five years his junior. Joshua awakened as the dominant of the Phoenix at a very young age, and usurped Clive's claim to the throne in the process. Bearing no ill will, Clive dedicated his life to protecting and supporting Joshua's rule. He loved him dearly; Joshua was the center of his world. During the Tragedy of Phoenix Gate, Clive (age 15) awakened as Ifrit and flew into a rage, ultimately ending the life of the little brother he cherished. His memories of the event were suppressed -- Clive lived 13 years with vengeance in his heart; his primary goal to survive his enslavement and find the killer of his little brother. It hit him hard when he learned the truth. During Clive's first interaction with Ultima, it is revealed to him that Joshua lives. However, his beloved little brother disappeared, and Clive has been passively searching for him ever since.
𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐎𝐋𝐅𝐔𝐒 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐎𝐍 ( 𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐎𝐑 )
The Dominant of Ramuh, and First Leader of the Rebellion. Leads the movement to free bearers and dominants from their oppression by destroying the mothercrystals, the source of aether. Upon Clive's desertion from the imperial army, he and Cid cross paths, and Cid offers him sanctuary. Cid is the first person to offer him true kindness in 13 years; the catalyst to earning Clive's unwavering loyalty shortly afterwards. Cid was a leader, a savior, and a dear friend to Clive. [ SPOILER ] In Cid's final act, he prevented Ultima from taking over Clive's body, and sacrificed Ramuh to him. [ CANON TO THIS BLOG ] With his dying breath, he requested that Clive watch over his adopted children, Mid and Aelin ( prmisd ) . Clive has never revealed this information to them, instead doing his best by them (even if they resent it). Upon his return to the Hideaway, Clive was soon after elected to be the next Cid. He carries the name as an alias for his criminal behaviour. Everyday, Clive strives to achieve Cid's dream of liberating the world, and tends to the needs of his people at The Hideaway.
𝐆𝐀𝐕 𝐖𝐄𝐈𝐑 ( 𝐋𝐎𝐘𝐀𝐋 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐓 )
A scout and skilled fighter. Acts as an informant for Cid. Clive was introduced to Gav through Cid, and the two quickly developed a friendship. Once when cornered by imperials, Gav fell from a cliff only for his hand to be caught by Clive. The two have each other's backs. Upon inheriting the title and aspirations of Cid, Gav remained an informant. The two have been working closely together ever since.
𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐎 ( 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 )
Oversees all of the affairs at The Hideaway. Worked closely with Cid the First, and continues his service under Cid the Second. Clive considers him a close friend, and often seeks Otto's counsel before departing on missions. He alerts Otto to his comings and goings, as well. Otto played a large role in Clive's election as Cid the Second. He rallied the people, and encouraged their vote for Clive.
𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐍 ( 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐑 )
Runs a well-stocked shop with potions, armor, and miscellaneous items. Plays a role in managing The Hideaways wares. She is involved in maintaining the economic well-fare of the community; often making small to large donations. She has a very crotchety disposition, so Clive is never sure where her affections toward him lie. [ CANON TO THIS BLOG ] Eva Highbridge ( fatewalkr ) has a very close familial relationship with Charon. They can often be found bickering with one another. ( pre - time skip ) One afternoon, when training with Aelin ( prmisd ), there was an accident that lead to the destruction of Charon's shop. Namely, Aelin hit Clive with a powerful fireball that sent his body flying into her stand. She will never let him forget about his carelessness, and often ( teasingly ) reminds him that he owes her thousands of gil over the event.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐘𝐒 ( 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑𝐒 )
Leader. The Cursebreakers are troops of ex-branded with one main purpose: liberate the branded from their captors. Clive offers hospice to all freed branded, as well as supporting the groups efforts however he can. The Cursebreakers act independently from Cid, but they do offer their aid in small affairs. Clive harbors great respect for Dorys, their leader, and can often be seen sharing a drink with the natural recluse.
𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐉𝐀 𝐒𝐀𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍 ( 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐏𝐇𝐘𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐍 )
A talented doctor. She is stationed at the hideaway, and is often found tending to the medical of recently liberated Branded. Tarja, once branded herself, developed a technique to remove the brand. It is dangerous, and often deadly ( about 1 in 3 survive (?)). She performed this procedure on Clive herself. [ CANON TO THIS BLOG ] Canonically, she is only invited out on a mission with Clive once. I retcon that. Clive would accompany her on supply trips whenever he can to ensure her safe passage. She often "catches", and chastises Clive after he prematurely leaves the medical bay, and shoos him back to the recovery room.
𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐄 ( 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐇 )
The Hideaways prized blacksmith. Another grouchy sort, but would help craft anything if it's within his skillset. It wasn't until 5 years post-Clive becoming Cid that Blackthorne fully accepted him. Clive tends to go on quests to help improve this neurotic blacksmith's mood.
𝐕𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐇 ( 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐒𝐓 )
A brilliant strategist, researcher, and mentor to Mid. Once a professor, she seeks hospice at The Hideaway to hide away from her enemies. She decided that, in exchange, she will offer counsel to Clive whenever he needs it. While he certainly takes advantage of that, Clive also seeks recreational conversation with her.
𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐏𝐎𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐈𝐈 𝐇𝐘𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐎𝐒 ( 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐋𝐄𝐃𝐆𝐄 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐑 )
Historian and lore keeper at The Hideaway. Clive seeks out "Tomes" whenever he is in need of counsel, or information. However, he has a sweet spot for the old man, and carries great respect for his position.
