AITA for killing my ex?
I (20somethingM) am a spy. So is said ex (20somethingM).
We were on a mission when I accidentally caused him to fall to his death.
I spent the following four years grieving him. I retired from work, took up drinking and grew a terrible beard.
I decided to go back to spying as I thought it’s what he’d want me to do.
I ended up chasing this mysterious hitman around the world to stop his villainous plot.
After the hitman betrayed and killed his boss, he revealed that he was my ex. He didn’t die four years ago.
Turns out he’s joined this evil organisation that’s going to make spies as we know them obsolete.
I tracked him down to a facility similar to the one I accidentally abandoned him in.
We both had guns pointed to one another.
I tried to reason with him, get him to stand down, or see if there was anything of the man I once knew and loved in there, at the very least.
When it was clear there was not, I knew I had to do my job and defeat the bad guy.
