So, I know Iām just a newbie to this whole politics thing so Iām maybe confused about the Dems in the senate knowing they canāt stop this new Supreme Court pick (canāt spell his name so eh) but then going ahead and deciding to filibuster the thing. Donāt get me wrong, Iām not a Trumpkin, didnāt vote for him and I think heās a sleaze, BUT it seems short sighted to me to force the Repubs to make it a simple 51 vote majority to confirm. I mean, a lot of the liberal judges are old. I mean like must-have-tutored-Jesus old. So itās very possible that President Sleaze will get at least one more pick. That would change the court for a LONG time. Iām 18 now. It was my first election (talk about a major downer š) so itās possible that the next pick could fuck up the balance of the court for a long time to come. I hear on the news that this new guy could possibly serve to 2040. Iād be about 40 years old by the time this pick leaves the bench!! 40!! Holy fuck, thatās oldš±š±š± (lol well a lot older than I am now). Anyway, so this politics thing confuses me. If the Dems know this then why do this? Itāll make them more irrelevant than they have been during the last few months. Are they hoping to get the senate back before then? That wonāt happen soon (a pessimist after only one election?? Yep.) I think they should press hardcore on the next pick so we donāt lose all the progress from the last billion years or so. But our system of government doesnāt do anything for the normal person anyway so idk. Like I said, itās all confusing to me. Maybe adults should do whatās best for everyone and not simply what will get them re-elected. Oh. Wait. Congress isnāt full of adults šš my bad. I forgot. #TeensDoItBetter. Jus sayin š
