Life of an Artist

Jisung couldn’t take it anymore. How could you listen to something so gruesome whilst writing such an upbeat song? He locked eyes with you for a moment. He swore he could see you plotting his murder. He got up, left your shared room and made his way to Minho’s room. 

He knocked on the door and entered once Minho allowed him to. “Hyung, you have to help me. Baby wants to kill me.”

Minho looked up from where he was sitting on his bed. He raised an eyebrow. “I highly doubt that. For some reason, she thinks you're too cute to kill.” He said as he scrolled through his phone.

Jisung smiled for a moment before shaking his head. “This is serious. She’s listening to another true crime thing.” 

Minho’s head snapped up. “Which one? She better not be listening to the one we said we’d listen to together.” He stood up and walked past Jisung to check which one you were listening to.

Jisung scoffed. “Hyung!” He whined out. “Pay attention to me! Not her, Hyung! Hey! Ugh.” He threw his head back in annoyance as he was ignored. He walked to the front door, putting on his shoes and a jacket. “Hyunjin will listen to me.”

Jisung left, shouting to you both that he was leaving. Once he received an ‘okay. Stay safe’, he was out the door and making his way to Hyunjin and Changbin’s door. Then practically banged on the door. 

Changbin opened the door. “Jisung? What are you doing here?” 

Han made his way inside. “Where’s Hyunjin?” He asked as he took off his shoes and pulled his jacket off. 

Hyunjin popped his head around the corner from the kitchen, where he was making drinks. “I’m right here. What’s going on?” He sounded worried.

Jisung walked over to the male. “Baby is trying to kill me. I know it sounds crazy, but she was listening to a true crime thingy, and it was about a woman who married men and killed them for their money. I have money. A lot of money.” He spoke seriously. 

Changbin rolled his eyes. “So does Baby.” He scoffed. 

Hyunjin shook his head. “Binnie-hyung, can’t you see Jisung is worried? Baby makes a lot of money, yes. But so does Ji; it’s valid for him to be worried.” He smirked at Changbin. Oh, Hyunjin was gonna play into this hard. 

Jisung nodded his head and grabbed a cup. “Exactly, you get it. Minho-hyung didn’t even care. My life is at risk!” He bounced slightly as he whined. 

Hyunjin patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry, I won’t let her hurt you.” 

Jisung let out a tiny sigh. “Thank you. I just, I don’t know what to do. She’s listening to that stuff whilst creating one of the most upbeat songs I’ve ever heard. If I don’t show up at practice tomorrow, you’ll know Baby and Minho did it. They're plotting against me.”

Changbin groaned. “Oh, so Minho’s in on it too?”

Jisung nodded. “Exactly. They plan to off me and run off together. It makes perfect logical sense.”

Hyunjin nodded mockingly. “Yeah, Changbin. Obviously, Baby and Minho are plotting this together.” He stuck his tongue out at Changbin. 

Changbin shook his head. “Ji, when was the last time you slept?”

“Day before yesterday, why?” That explains it. Despite how much you and Minho had tried to get Jisung to sleep. He just wouldn't. He had been so focused on work.

Changbin left the room to grab his phone to call you. Jisung needed to sleep before he thinks anyone else is trying to murder him. 

Hyunjin pulled Jisung in for a hug. “It’s okay. I’m here. Maybe you can convince them to off someone else?” He suggested. 

Jisung nodded. “But who? I’m their favourite person, and I’m not even safe.” He wrapped his arms around Hyunjin and snuggled close to him. 

Hyunjin bit back a laugh. “Umm…what about that staff member who hit on Baby the other week?” 

Jisung thought for a moment. “That could work. They could make it look like an accident. They know how to.”

Changbin walked into the room. “Your girlfriend is on her way to get you.”

Jisung let out a scream. “He’s trying to get me killed!” 

Hyunjin let out a laugh. “No, he’s not. He’s just helping you with our goal. Go home, sleep and then talk to them about changing targets, easy peasy.”

Jisung nodded his head slowly. A knock came from the door, and Changbin let you inside. 

“Time to come home, Ji. Minho agreed to watch the show you wanted to watch. Singles Inferno.” You said with a small shrug. There were so many dating shows he enjoyed that you were losing track. So you just hoped you got the correct one.

Jisung pouted at you. “I wanna watch anime.” 

You nodded. “Anime it is then. I’ll finish the song tomorrow. We can go home, nap and watch anime.” 

Jisung looked at Hyunjin, who nodded encouragingly at him. “Alright. Sounds good.”

You grabbed his hand and walked with him to the door. He put on his shoes and jacket. “Thanks for calling me, Bin.” 

Changbin nodded. “Anytime, Noona.” He smiled lightly at you. 

You took Jisung home. You got him to your room, where you both got ready for bed. You both climbed into bed, and Minho joined Jisung’s other side. The three of you watched the anime of Jisung’s choice on the TV, though Ji didn’t last five minutes before he was flat out asleep. His head on your shoulder as he slept. 

You and Minho shared a soft, fond look as you both watched the younger male. He was dramatic, but he was yours, and you wouldn’t change him for the world. Though Hyunjin was on your hit list for riling him up. So quietly as not to wake Jisung, you and Minho discussed a plan to get back at Hyunjin for playing into the dramatics. 

Back in the HyunBin dorm, Hyunjin woke up with a gasp. He was shivering. He frowned. He had gone to bed not long after you and Jisung left. He shivered again. 

Changbin entered the room, having heard Hyunjin. “Are you okay?” 

Hyunjin looked at him for a moment and shook his head. “Nightmare.” He whispered. “It had to have been a nightmare. It felt like... something was cursing me.” 

Changbin stayed with him for the rest of the night. It was just a nightmare, right?
