the gwaith-mirdain are ostensibly just an artisans’ guild, but their role has always been political, not only out of a desire to ensure some favourable trading deals with other kingdoms; they’re lords of the noldor, many of them that once declared for the sons of fëanor. while the majority of them are also craftspeople, with specialties ranging from metalwork to glassblowing, celebrimbor has given a couple official status within his guild who have no talent for artisanal skills at all, and it’s purely about raising their influence, bolstering a bit of support for himself along the way.

another tiny headcanon. celebrimbor doesn’t forge weapons. he can; he’s even good at it. he’s capable of making blades with beautiful balance and sharp edges and then decorate them with ornate hilts, fanciful engravings, not to mention enchantments that can further enhance the quality and capabilities of the weapon.

he just doesn’t like to. he’s determinedly pacifist during the second age, and somewhat naïvely thinks that there’s no need to carry blades around ost-in-edhil. hunting weapons are a slightly different matter, but also one that he doesn’t feel that he needs to spend his time on.

quick name headcanons. although I tend to use the fandom nickname of tyelpë, the actual rendering of his nickname would actually look more like tyelperincë. he hates it.

father-name is curufinwë. he hates it.

keeping my old headcanon for his mother-name: ilvanon, with a meaning of “perfect.” very high expectations tied up with that, just like the father-name. he hates it.

tyelperinquar is an epessë, probably not given until he & curufin & celegorm were settled in nargothrond and his skill with crafting became apparent.
