Quality is very shitty because my academic dread is interfering with the electronic displays

Diatoms are single celled algae that secrete a theca (shell) made of opaline silica, which is literally glass! These shells are adorned with many microscopic structures that give these little guys amazing appearances. Here are photos of their thecas without any organic material inside:

These silicose thecas are ornamented with thousands of little holes that scatter light in the blue/violet end of the spectrum. They’re not actually blue, just like the wings of some butterflies~

Genus Aulacoseira - a colony of diatoms with an auxospore still attached

Diatoms are like Petri dishes. They have an epi and hypotheca that connect together through bands, and the hypotheca is always smaller than the epitheca. When they reproduce asexually, the daughter cells inherit the thecas, and secrete a smaller one to seal the cell. For this reason, each generation becomes a little smaller, until they reach a limit. When that happens and conditions are right, the diatoms will do sexual reproduction and form an auxospore, a type of zigote (cell that forms after gametes meet) that is much bigger than the parent cells and will divide into bigger diatoms, maintaining the size of the species.

I don’t know the genus for these ones… but that one looks like the radioactive symbol ☢️

The art style we see in game is almost the love child of these ones, I’d say. But I improved a lot since starting making the game (or at least I hope so)

I took a while to answer because I was checking it out. I haven’t finished playing it, because I don’t want to rush it. But I need to comment on the art…. It’s so peak…. The music is AMAZING and the visual art is breathtaking. I really really like the paint/canvas look.

The horror aspects are top notch and it’s shgrhrggf they are all so beautiful hshsjjk I am so down BADDD for all of them. The voice acting???
