Cultural Relevancy
This is a great example of being culturally relevant in you advertising.
Simple insight, beautiful executions and tightly written copy.
Some brands try this and either fall flat or come across as cheap opportunistic… This approach strikes a solid balance between humor, pop culture and brand presence that make it entertaining and hard selling at the same time.
There was a fun experiential component in SXSW… will update when I find info.

When you let the brand speak for itself. I love the simplicity and coolness of these spots. They show the brand in an exciting and enticing way and at no point jarring CTA’s, art cards and price points come in to interrupt the vibe. It’s all about the brand and the products… letting consumers fall in love with them and not with some $XX.99 price point or combo. I really wish them success, because in their success lays the proof that not all advertising has to have CTA’s and price points to sell, and that good story telling sells. OTHER SPOTS:

Boom! I had not seen a campaign execution as exquisite as this one. MY background is in graphic design so I always have longed for the years when print and OOH were queen and prince to the king TV. Launched for #NationalBurgerDay, this campaign is backed by a blind test** (Pepsi seems to like these) where 60% of tested preferred a Pepsi over Coke with their Whoppers, Big Macs and Dave's Single. The idea of the brand placing themselves in places that they are not available and laying a stake is bold. We may disagree if indeed Pepsi is better than coke; this will not solve this long debate for sure; but this piece puts the brand, Pepsi, in a place to get noticed. From what I have read, this campaign too has all the right elements to grow and evolve: collaboration between great agencies (ALMA DDB, Vayner Media, OMD & Acceleration Community of Companies) with a delicate eye for execution and a partnership with a bold smart client. **https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GzqsIPFBY0

I recently saw this campaign and it made me do a double take... It literally made me stop and go back to see it. The disruption created by having the visuals not match the AVO is brilliant and fun. I have yet to order using postmates, but that is becasue I like to cook. This is really one of the clearest examples of disruption that I have seen in a while. Simple and clever. Here is another execution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFTdxKN_IZ0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6gjd3Papbo Definitely a "I WISH I DID IT".
Film advertisement created by Droga5, United States for Facebook, within the categories: Electronics, Technology, Professional Services.
Jingles... one of those forgotten advertising resources that have been relegated to regional car dealerships, carpet cleaners, floors installers and other services. And for good reasons... I can find a lot of contemporary examples that would make you cringe, change the channel or mute the TV... just plain awful. Then last week I saw this. I instantly tried to Shazam the song and nothing... as I tried again I realized something as the commercial played in the background. IT WAS NOT A SONG! This was a jingle in a form of a song... hell it's disguised as a catchy pop tune. What I love is that song is a great hook to get you to see the rest of this brilliantly executed spot introducing Personalized Ads. Sometimes, I love when the concept might not be ground breaking or award winning but the execution is so exquisitely and amazingly executed that it elevates an "ok" idea into a memorable piece like this... they get my highest accolade: I WISH I DID IT. Congrats to Droga 5, Facebook and all involved in this piece.
Print is one of those mediums still very much alive but that seems to be ignored a lot lately. This campaign is the exception. SMART, SIMPLE AND BEAUTIFUL. I can see the idea live in a magazine, newspaper and seeing it on bus shelters really pays off and drives the message. Kudos to the agency and McDonalds... you get a "I wish I did it"
Super Bowl time again...and after such a weird, different and sad year it's nice to see some fun, different and out-there tv spots again. So far, this campaign is my favorite of them all. I personally love when brands take a stand in social issues. I have been talking for years about this, especially with the birth of social media. Now days more and more people want to have a relationship with brands. People want to know where they stand on social and environmental issues. They want to know that the products they support share if not all; at least some of their personal values. So cheers Oreo for being one of those brands practicing creativity, respect and showing inclusion.
Commercial - Tide Pure Clean
We often forget that not all TV spots have to breakthough ideas. This is the perfect example of a simple idea executed to perfection. Simple little song telling the story of a day in the life of a small family. The craft is superb. The directing is solid. The casting is impecable. The acting is relatable and real. The editing is smooth. The end result a simple beautiful spot that makes you smile. The definitely get a "I wish I did it".
Deloitte Digital’s Heat feels consumer love for the brand
Sometimes a great idea does not need to be conceptual, and when you have a good idea and executed almost impeccably this is the result. It's not groundbreaking per say, but its memorable, nostalgic and funny. Yes... they will get old pretty quickly but for a good chunk of time they will be a fun, breathe of fresh air in the airwaves.
Bold Strategy. Bold Execution.
And finally last year's...
I really liked and enjoyed this campaign for California Milk. The executions are memorable, intriguing, fun and creative, all of it while showcasing the product within 6 secs and then talking about it and the brand attributes pretty much to the of the spot.
Tapping into the insight that “food" can provide a kind of high and making it come to life in these fun spots was brilliant and they were executed with exceptional craft... from casting to finishing.
They totally get a "I wish I did them" and congrats on the agency and client for being bold and true to a strategy and the personality of the brand.
DieHard is Back | 2:00 Film ... and you may regret watching it
I really wanted to like this... I mean the concept is great. DIE HARD BATTERIES and DIE HARD the movie played by an actor who is not just emblematic but also charismatic. And to top it off he has been quiet for some time... so seeing him relive this awesome character was... well too good to be true. The production values get a 10... I mean it feel like a die-hard movie but the storyline is just plain boring. There is no build, there is no tension and it just feels like a bunch of one liners and punch lines with guest actors sewn together randomly.

And now I leave you with the Making Vertical Cinema — Shot on iPhone by Academy Award® Winner Damien ...
I have to admit I was one of the first ones to complain about vertical anything... simple point was it was restrictive and was not conductive to great story telling.
Fast-forward 10 years. I have been seeing lately some good samples of great story telling shot with smaller cameras and smartphones particularly from Apple but this one takes the prize. This example that uses an example of almost every movie genre to show you how a compelling story can still be told in vertical format. This piece in my opinion is the first proof that vertical is here to stay and that content can be made and consumed on your mobile device.
What apple and Damien Chazelle accomplished here is great. They serve us the proof that we can break and adapt all rules of cinematography and story telling and come out with a successful and compelling piece on the other side. I was particularly impressed at how easy I got used to it. The transition to seeing the story told 100 in a vertical format was done effortlessly. And not only that, while I began watching the piece paying attention at how the were treating the camera moves, angles and editing by the end I was just interested in the piece.
I cannot wait to see where we go in the very near future as we create more and more compelling content for the mobile phone that is not necessarily connected to the TV or cinema. I think there is plenty of room in our lives to enjoy both types… and if not we are enough people to support both preferences.
