Michelle Baxley, called “Missy” as a child, is the catalyst, the starting point of the war consuming Rorrim and seeping into our reality. Her friends and family and even most of the residents of Sweetwater Ridge remember a kind-hearted but stubborn little freckled redhead. She wasn’t the oldest, the prettiest, or the smartest of her group of friends, but she was the most loved. When she spoke her friends listened, even the older ones. The Black twins looked after her, her little brother worshipped her, Josslyn drew her pictures of anything she’d ask, Sylvie stayed up with her after bedtime on the phone talking about nothing. James, Matt, and Ryan stared down any kid who dared tease her on the playground. They adored her, and in return she loved them, sharing what she had and sometimes what she didn’t. 

Her determination and thirst for attention drew her into the mirror that night. While her parents moved away and her friends mourned, Missy considered herself a real life Alice who’d stumbled into a twisted version of Wonderland. Held by the shadows themselves, she slowly grew strong enough to  break free. Rather than breaking her association with evil, she turned and embraced it. The shadows that once imprisioned and broke her became her friends, the darkness her family. What was at first a desperate attempt to return to her old life became a quest for power, for control. And control she gained. It is unclear what dealings she became involved in while she was gone, but she managed to come out almost in total control of Rirrom itself. The realm within the glass has become her new home, and she is hellbent on reconciling her two worlds.

Headstrong and determined, Missy got what she wanted even as a child. When pulled into Rorrim, her positive traits became warped. Her kindness became cruelty and her determination quickly grew into a ruthless drive to get what she wanted. When she returns to teach her friends of their abilities, she is frustrated by their skepticism. She gives them each a mirror and teaches them what they can do until they decide they no longer believe in her. Deeply hurt and angered by what she sees as the betrayal of the friends she’s missed for so long, but unwilling to allow something as useless as friendship get in the way of bringing Rorrim to our reality, Missy sets out to find new friends… or a new army.
