There's a lot wasted bandwidth floating around the web and as someone with a blog about doing tricks I think I'm a pro on the matter. I can say that this thirty minute video (which could have been five) has helped me get closer to describing what I mean by a trick. In this excuse for content they pin some youtube math nerds against a pool nerd chick and for some reason a generic man that has an environmental youtube channel? I'm glad I made it past the rollie to get a better glimpse into why I feel the trick needs to be studied and explained. In the video the math guys are going up against a high level professional billiards player. If the entire plot of the video and the reason I feel it should have been five minutes isn't glaringly obvious, Matt and Grant are going to use math to solve billiard drills.

They use a vaguely explained mirroring method which I assume was a vector calculation? Anyway they missed the mark for a few reasons. A pool shot, A kickflip. A tailwhip, a horse trick ( I don't know any but you know what I mean) All may be calculated. You can, down to the particles, measure how to do the perfect kickflip. The right force of pop, the proper friction for flip, the flip timing, the apogy of the catch; all calculable but the question anyone who has had a skateboard at school gets asked still remains...

Can you do a kickflip?

Probably not, NERD! No matter how you count up the coordinates on the pool table your arm and stance and understanding of hitting a ball with the correct force will never match those that actually do it. I've learned to love math but there is a physical intelligence that goes into any and all tricks. Is this force analyzed in psych? Calculated in mathematics? Found in a connection with god or the oneness?

I'll waste no more webspace so that individuals who never grew up around cameras can film each other pretending to be friends.

I'm trying to learn mathematics and the realization that this was actually the tightest subject in school has me in a weird ether of being. Am a pretentious math snob that says "ether of being" and also quotes himself? One time, I did a tre-flip. What happened?

Either way; I've applied mathematical thinking to different aspects in my day to day. I found this "tier list video" which seems to be a common format amongst a particular set of individuals with special interests. You cross multiply this content to discover fields of math you're interested in, or what park local you are.

Am I the kind of guy that gets to throw around the word cosmology?

In looking for a word to describe the history I seek I decided to turn away from words and went a step above. I turned to the mystics to gain a better idea of what a trick or stunt is. In this I've found a new way of interpreting the experience I refer to as a trick (or stunt). I see it now in a more "creative" context, More so like a performance art. I'm also going over a lot of WW2 history (since we will al be ground into paste soon) and you can find this type of thought process, I feel, In Bauhaus. Although I agree with Johannes ideas about being bald, I don't really ascribe to his spiritual beliefs. I do feel he is on to something.

Before his attempt to turn his class into a cult (kind of) he operated on a principle that the basis of creation, or the creative process starts with very basic shapes like lines and circles. This allows the subconscious to have a chance at being free to create and that knowing the basics from the ground up (combined with naked meditation and strict vegetarianism) gives your mind the tools to be truly free. To be completely at one with what you're doing.

Thinking of tricks I look both at the classic wood fixed axle and my design that I'm in the proto stage. if you're curious I call it the "Do It Yourself Axle-Hole." It will be revealed this coming year! Happy new year by the way! Anyway, I asked Ed Haponik about his take on 3-D printed yo-yos and how they would pertain to this which brings me to the point of this long winded post. I still don't know what a trick or stunt really is and the more I try to put it different boxes, "the further from the mark I am." Even looking at something from it's most simple form, I can't put what I'm looking for into a word or two.

Here are the posts, I thought I would find a better way to include them in the post but I didn't. Not my best insertion but it's cool to get advice and takes from a legend in the game! I appreciate all this knowledge and love. I don't know what to study if I "unknow" it, though. ☁️

For Christmas I got the Luftverk 000; an Injection machine poly-carbonate yo-yo. I love how light and nimble it is on the string. It holds all the fun and bouncy organic characteristics while remaining very stable.

This color reminds me of beach glass or more precisely the colored beach glass, Camano Island, PNW upper class aesthetic. Camano In the early 90's and early 00's had remnants of 80's club lifestyle and I never fully know how to explain this era and how I loved it. I remember being at a parent's friends wedding and there where turquoise and purple neon lights on the stage and piping of the same color on the chairs. They had this colored glass on top of black table cloths and the way the lights reflected on them was really captivating to me. Even as a child I knew a night at a place like this was going to end in someones hot-tub and shit was going to get weird.

There were of course shells and boats and ropes on things. It was am interesting time. Camano Island is an interesting place and I'm sure anyone with memories of it will understand this feeling.

I constantly run into this problem when I start to research this subject and I'm beginning to wonder if I am moving from the right direction? When you preform an internet search for tricks you get flooded with magic, which is cool but not what I want. When you preform a search for stunts you get flooded with hollywood stunts, which is cool but not what I want.

How then should I define the human action that I am looking for? What is a kickflip? What is a trapeze? What is flipping a stick in your hand with control we achieve because of our fine motor skills? If a trick is a manipulation of an interaction to mislead someone and a stunt is an action preformed by a person to amaze others and neither of these bring me anywhere near what I'm looking for then what is it?

Object manipulation? Performance art? Neo-Fluxus?

I only get farther at each search but I also find a lot of interesting reads on toys and "Sensation seeking and aggressive behavior."

Blackbird Spyplane - Can "wack people" ruin something you love

I was watching pogo videos for no particular reason (the algorithm of course) and I was amazed and enthralled. Their trick vocabulary has evolved allowing for a lot of spots and trick variations. In this video you can witness lines and flow-y combos.

More so than the collar pop pogo-ing has allowed I was thinking about how a good amount of toys and play things have evolved to being sub-communities in the greater cloud of trick culture. I was recently comparing yo-yo-ings evolution to scootering in the realm of materials. As aluminum became easier and cheaper to manufacture both yo-yos and scooters had an extreme/street boom beckoning players and riders to think in a new light. I see this in even smaller or less talked about props like hula hoops and drones. Hula hooping especially since it has a long history alongside juggling and dancing; with a modern boom of bespoke and small shops catering to niche interests even small interests like Astrojax can evolve and develop a language with which we can communicate with our environment.

I see the pogo-ers slide on a skate stopped bench and hop each stop as if it was an obstacle made for them. The same way a million skaters saw the bench which inevitably lead to the stops. As the environment changes so to does our interpenetration of it and pogo is filling a lot of gaps that skaters, BMX, bladers, and scooters could not. They can bounce and stall back and forth while doing barspins and grabs within the inside corner where two ledges meet. As they feel the need they can hop into a slide and then end the line.

This is what having a really talented friend with dope cameras looks like. My buddy runs his own media business and when the stars align he has enough free time to film me as we goof around. This video was a blast, We both grew up skateboarding and filming every single day and this was a lot like that.

I slid opened the camera cover on my laptop to film some rough drafts for an upcoming video project my buddy wants to make. I won't spoil the details but it's probably going to be the dopest shit you've ever seen in your life.

I love this time of year. I hope everyone that I gave a yo-yo to this weekend at Boo throws a sleeper or two. A rave psychic confirmed my want to meditate/pray more. When I receive a message I like, I oblige. This point in Fremont Peak park at 14:00 points directly at, Regulus. Starting at Venus in the South, it was syzygy with Mercury, the Sun, and then the moon.

I went to a coffee shop (If it could so be called) to study and got ganked on seating. I also got ganked with my double espresso which was gross and my croissant that was stale. I walked to the spot between the G.W. Memorial bridge and the Fremont Bridge In hopes of finding a chill spot to crunch some numbers. Fool am I to think there was ever a good place to sit on a computer. I miss the pre-covid coffee shop experience. Remember when Starbucks had free itunes music downloads?

I forgot I needed the internet to study, Or I should say, I forgot that the internet doesn't exist outside. A place I've rarely been if not for school and days like today. I have reached out to some homies in an effort to get out again; I miss skateboarding and I miss the park. My wheels miss Columbia Ave.
