Claire gently opened her eyes and saw nothing but bright light shining in her face that peaked in from the edges of the curtain that covered the window to the outside world. Underneath the white sheets of Aaron’s bed was her pale body entangled with his as she could feel his heart beating against her back, his steady breath brushing warmly and gently against her shoulder. He felt so warm holding her like this. The thin strap of her short, white nightgown had fallen gently off her shoulder so she purely felt him against her skin. She felt relaxed and so full of sweetness (not just from consuming as much chocolate as she did the day before) as she took a deep breath in to happily remind herself what day it was. She turned in Aaron’s arms, absolutely trying to stir him awake as she did, and she faced his sleeping face, hands rubbing on his side and back as she started to pepper sweet, momentary kisses on his nose and cheeks, all over his face. She barely had any words, just a beaming smile on her face while she wanted to leap for joy yet stay in bed all day long.
going to bed the night before proved harder than aaron would have thought with a giddy feeling stirring up in his stomach. how did eight years go by so fast and so slow at the same time? it felt like yesterday that he was being asked out by claire, but at the same time it felt like so long ago. those two years apart... it felt like forever. technically they’ve only been dating for six years, but it’s been eight since they’ve been each other’s hearts. he was excited to spend the day with her. nervous too, as he usually was. planning a date was intimidating. would claire like it? would it be good enough. that stressed him out lately, as his mind kept reeling over if he was even good enough for her or not. he just wanted to forget that for today though. wanted to have fun with her and enjoy their day. he felt her stir, and instead of fighting his body waking up he just let it happen. his brown eyes blinked open, and they were looking right into claire’s when they did. he smiled sleepily and pulled her in close, their bodies pushing together once again. he leaned in to kiss her, slowly and sweetly. “good morning,” he said with a bright smile, taking his turn to kiss all over her face. it’s probably the perkiest he’s ever been waking up before. for a good reason too.
