My pretty siren, I miss you πππ₯Ί
One of the worst things about the series, for me, is how poorly they portray Daemon's fatherhood. Among many things, one that bothers me is why make Rhaena feel ignored by him? She's his daughter, the girl he could treat like the princess she is. Daemon isn't a one-dimensional character who can't understand others just because they aren't like himβwhich isn't even true too, because that's his daughter: brave, fearless, and intelligent. There are so many ways to explore a connection between them. I don't know if it's laziness or part of a plan to make Daemon less likeable to the audience (the production also seems to like putting Baela and Rhaena in bad unnecessary situations that they didn't have to face in the canon).
Anyway, I'll always talk about the good father Daemon and his bond with his firstborn children (the babies he waited and wanted for decades, never forget).

#Daemyra - Headcanon - Cooking!Daemon - Lemon Cakes
Nyra doesn't know how to cook, she's a princess and the heir to the throne. Daemon is also a prince, but he was at war and had to learn how to do many survival things... like cooking.
When Rhaenyra was pregnant with Aegon, her stomach was very sensitive (unlike her other pregnancies). Everything they prepared in the kitchen made her nauseous or unhappy.
So, Daemon took it upon himself to resolve the situation (he can't stand seeing his wife down).
He cooked for her for weeks, without her realizing that he was the one who prepared the (miraculous, she thought) meals that her stomach wasn't rejecting. On the contrary, her appetite returned, and she was more rosy-cheeked and lively.
... But she still missed her sweet lemon cakes.
So, after that, he learned how to make lemon (and honey) cakes for Rhaenyra during her pregnancy.
Rhaenyra discovered this by accident. When she smelled lemon and sugar filling the room, she slipped away to the kitchen.
And there was her husband, with his sleeves rolled up, his hair in a tight braid, and the lemon cakes being carefully crafted by his big hands.
This surprised everyone - except Baela and Rhaena who were already used to their father making some of the meals, but mostly meats and stews, so cakes were a novelty (the twins were excited, while everyone else was in shock).
Nyra is spoiled (as she should) especially by Daemonβshe always has been. So, seeing her kepus - strong and intimidating - in the kitchen baking lemon cakes for her was making her giggle like a little girl. Daemon loved that. He always loved being the reason for his wife's smile.
So he continued cooking for Rhaenyra even after she gave birth to baby Aegon.
BONUS:
The children also became obsessed with the sweets their kepa prepared. So, Daemon never went a day without hearing requests for cakes and tarts (even if he didn't always have time to do it).

Daemon Targaryen, they can never make me hate you.
Friendly fucking reminder that if daemon wanted to be the ruling king of westeros he WOULD HAVE BEEN THE RULING KING OF WESTEROS ALREADY BECAUSE VISERYS WAS NEVER WEAKER THAN IN THE INFANCY OF HIS REIGN OKTHANKSBYE
I can't believe they're going to change the great scene of the gold cloaks who had remained loyal to Daemon for literal decades being the ones who order the city gates open.
I am so upset I'm not going to hear the iconic line:
βDaemon gave us these cloaks and theyβre gold no matter how you turn them.β
It's 2026 and GRRM's favorite Targaryen is still being willfully misunderstood by the community that claims to love and understand his work. It's depressing.
Daemon was banished from a moment when Rhaenyra was 9. He was banished when she was 7. A time when he was officially with Mysaria, spending his time either working or traveling. And no, giving your niece gifts when you return from a trip isn't grooming.
Daemon deflowered young Maidens not little girls when he was in his twenties, women who were probably 17 when you think for two seconds about the historical context.
Something he wasn't known for during passed that period. No trace of it when he returned from his banishment and courted Rhaenyra, when he was married to Laena, or when he married Rhaenyra. Even when he was with Mysaria, he secluded himself with her for a year on Dragonstone before being banished by Viserys for daring to... want to acknowledge his future son with a dragon egg? And no, Daemon in the book didn't take Viserys's dead child's egg. He took a normal egg.
We have no idea if Daemon actually mocked his dead nephew since that was reported by Otto.
If Daemon is a child killer, I hope the same is said of Aemond? The one who spilled blood first? Daemon only sought revenge and bloodshed. Not that it's right. But it's ironic that his worst act (killing a child) is precisely a response to something done to him first: killing his stepson, whom he had spent 10 years raising.

So, I read the version (which is normally the only one, unless these people had access to another version) where Daemon is busy either traveling, or doing his work for the crown, or mostly being in the city (especially in the brothels). Because, you know, he's nicknamed the Prince of the City? This was a time when Rhaenyra was very young, 7 years old, and Daemon was with Mysaria. Especially since we know that for a long time before all this, he was stuck with his first wife, Rhea Royce. So, according to the text, Daemon didn't get to spend much time with Rhaenyra from her birth, and when she was very young, at 7, he apparently didn't see her much either. However, he brought her gifts from his travels, and because of that, Rhaenyra was full of love for him. There's literally nothing strange about that so far. The context is that we have an uncle who isn't often around, who travels, and when he returns, he brings gifts for his only niece, and then spends his time either doing his duties for the crown or enjoying himself in the city. There's nothing to suggest grooming. If the only example is Daemon's gifts for Rhaenyra, you're being completely disingenuous. Because there's nothing strange about an uncle giving his only niece gifts upon returning from a trip before going about his other business. Grooming is not = to a member of you family who offer you gifts. This logic is stupid. After that, Daemon was banished until Rhaenyra turned 14. We know he courted her for six months during that time. Rhaenyra was surrounded by ladies-in-waiting, so they were only alone when they were flying on dragons. Still not conducive to grooming. And no, there's no proof that anything sexual actually happened between them. Unless, of course, you accept the word of a notorious sex fiend who includes himself in Daemyra's escapades, or a Greens supporter. Greens, who was already questioning Rhaenyra's sexuality before Daemon's return. And I would also like to remind you that Rhaenyra was already being courted by men before Daemon's return. Some of his men were older or younger than Daemon. Does this historical logic mean that all of these men were grooms? Obviously not. Oh, and I should point out that the only man in Rhaenyra's circle who potentially attempted grooming was Criston Cole. He literally stalked Rhaenyra from her childhood, through her early teens, and right up until her near-marriage to Laenor. But I suppose we'll forget about that. Let's focus instead on Daemon, who was canonically almost never around... Just as we'll insult Daemon for being obsessed with young women and a predator, even though he's been with women of all ages considered adults in his time. But Corlys, who has different stages of his life, even up to 60, only sleeps with 16-year-oldsβI suppose that's okay, we just forget about it? It's not strange for him, considering he's literally doing what Daemon is accused of. Being a predator and a cheater.

The correct form of address for consorts of a monarch is "your grace" and "My queen/king." Daemon asking to be called "your grace" adds only MORE legitimacy to Rhaenyra's birthright because he's claiming his title as her husband/consort/king.
If you don't like Daemon, shut the fuck up about shit you CLEARLY don't understand. Read a damned history book or, maybe, Fire and Blood and cry that your greenie cunts all die out but Queen Rhaenyra and King Daemon's line lives on in Daenerys and House Hightower lmfao get rekt
