Expression sheet! 

Victor was actually a little difficult to do an expression sheet for, because he’s pretty stoic. He’ll be at the first expression for most of the story, but maybe something will happen hmmm hmmm hmmm!

Also, this is a fun little Throwback Thursday (or Sunday) thing!

These were the first designs I did for Victor and Anita, way back in 2013. It’s so strange to see these because I was so proud when I finished drawing them, but now they look so weird! 

Anita is too skinny and her dress is all wrong! Victor has a turnip nose and mysterious lines on his belt! Ugh! 

But it’s also nice because a lot of things have stayed the same. Anita has always been in a cute dress with weird root feet, and Victor has always had yellow sclera and a funky spacesuit. 

I also keep forgetting to post this: 

Declan made me a doll of Anita for Christmas, and it seeing her finished made me cry! My boyfriend is seriously so amazing and talented and I can't express how much I love him. Seeing Anita made tangible really inspired me to work more on my art, and try and bring my story into the world instead of just a concept in my head.

Here's a practice talking portrait! This was inspired by the Tales of Symphonia skit sprites. Ultimately, I want the posing to look a little more like the Persona 4 portraits, but this was a good warm-up.

Meet Anita! She’s a resident of Proxima B, and she helps out Victor a bunch on his journey.

Mood Board!

I’m very influenced by obsolete technology, brutalist architecture, 60′s fashion and any sort of science fiction/space exploration design. 

“The ultimate American icon is the astronaut: Who is more heroic, or more alone? The price of self-determination and self-reliance has often been loneliness.”  

In the year 2028, NASA has finally made contact with an alien species. After fifty years of blasting radio signals out into the depths of space, the call was finally returned. A signal from the planet Proxima B, in the distant Alpha Centauri system. 

Proxima B is 4.25 light years away from Earth. Even with barely tested faster-than-light travel, whoever went would come back to Earth three hundred years later. 

They would age only five. 

Victor Curtiss, a young astronaut fresh out of training, volunteered to go. If the mission was successful, he would come back a hero, renowned the world over for his bravery. He would also come back a total stranger to his home planet.

Hi there! My name is Meagan, and this is my production blog for my first game: More Heroic More Alone. I’ve had the idea for this game knocking around in my head since 2013, but I’m finally making it a reality! I graduated from the Maine College of Art in 2014 with a Major in New Media. I interned with and have gotten a lot of help from my mentor and friend Adam deGrandis, who runs Chickadee Games in Portland, Maine. I also owe a huge amount of thanks to my awesome boyfriend Declan, and my fabulous best friend Chelsea, who have both supported me through this process!
