Portrait practice
This is the coloring from my last year's pencil portrait drawing. Did this last month but I'm posting now. Overall I'm trying to find ways to achieve better likeness in my realistic portraits without spending a lot of time trying to copy what I'm seeing. I remember the likeness of this portrait had actually come quite fast to me, but it's still a hit or miss in other references. I've recently came up with this method of "T" measuring for both the length but also the width. The cycle method was messing up my width dimensions and was making the faces elongated. If this happens, then it doesn't matter whether you put the facial features right in relation to each other, or if you put them in the right height.

Colors in the first one looked much better on tablet, but as I'm uploading this from pc it looks worn out. I figured it looks better with brightness at 50% max, since I'm using lower brightness on tablet

The Chief Graphic Designer:
Folds/ clothes drawing practice
Stages:
I finally decided to begin the clothes drawing practice, after I've felt I have practice enough with the face rendering, plus I wanted to draw something different. I chose this reference (found on Pinterest) because it's just a shirt and it's way easier to practice on simple fabric. I'm still figuring out how the folds and their shading and patterns work, but I have to say that after I've practiced on them by painting them and not just drawing only the line art, somehow their shapes registered much better in my brain. I also applied the hard/soft edges technique on the folds that I've discovered from drawing faces. After clothes there's only perspective and buildings left to work on
Face rendering August 2025-November 2025
Almost a year after I bought my tablet, and yesterday I managed to color a face right. First it turned more blurry because I used the airbrush, but then I decided I needed to be bolder and use the regular brush and have more defined edges and texture. I also added the highlights and the hair details. I think it was elevated after that.

Semi realistic Rendering practice. Colors a bit muddy but that was also in the reference. This is a painterly way of drawing likeness. I'm still not as confident with painting like I am with sketching, but I think this came out decent and the plane changes and contrast (although blurry) make it look like it's getting close to realism
