i dont know

i havent seen a lot of theories as to why the mikes get the freedom motif, so here's my perspective.

After the Mike fight, Battat Mike explains to Kris (and/or Susie & Ralsei) that they and the other two Mikes only began pretending to be mike to ease Tenna's temper.

Therefore, them all being Mike wasn't an act of their freedom. After you find them out, they can finally be free from the identity they had to carry around with them to keep their boss in line, either because you found them out, or because Tenna was given away.

However, after you leave the room and come back in, they are back in costume and back to being Mike.

They all decided to go back to pretending to be Mike themselves, and that was an act that they carried out with their freedom; they have the freedom to be Mike for themselves and nobody else.

Now why is it in Air Waves...?

In all versions of the game except the switch 2, Air Waves is the song that plays durring Battat Mike's minigame. Battat Mike is regarded as the boss of the fake Mikes, as stated by Jongler Mike, who calls him "boss" and takes orders from him throughout the Mike battle.

Because Battat Mike is the group leader perse, the desision to stay Mikes was likely suggested by him, and the other Mikes followed the desision. Battat Mike's minigame is also the only minigame with a proper song playing in the background, while Jongler and Pluey both have ambience rather than actual music. Therefore, the one minigame song having the freedom motif in it makes sense, because the Mikes are all finally free from their obligation to pretend to be a guy who none of them have met/may not exist, and can now freely still pretend to be that guy based off of their concious choice to do so..!

Have I ever mentioned I love these "so absurd its epic" moments in some games? Like Kirby and the Forgotten Land final boss with the truck? I dream of making a moment like that some day.
