There is something......I wanna talk about that I noticed in the Weak Hero Webtoon. And it's about Keum Seong-je.
After he beat up Seol Gi-ju, he sat down on him and smoked the guys cigarettes. And then lamented about who annoys him aside from the bastard he just beat up.
And yet, he starts to count regardless. And first is Dong-ha-- understandably so. The dude got on my nerves too. This is Seong-je's little flashback to the guys who bug him...
And then it cuts to Si-eun......now....why is it...this type of vision he got from Si-eun. Not a memory of him talking or fighting or even looking at Seong-je defiantly. No. It is just this absolutely calm image of Si-eun who probably didn't even know Seong-je looked at him in that moment. Our pretty boy just unbothered and existing.
But the kicker is that despite leading with "too many to count" right after this image it fades to white and dude stops thinking. 😶 Almost like he forgot wtf he was even thinking about.
Anyway... Even if Si-eun was someone who bugged Seong-je, why tf did he help him? And I know, I know, he might've just done it because he hated Dong-ha so damn much/knew Baek-jin wanted that the Mok-ha duo beats up Seong-je, and yet, it was just perfect timing. And even though from that previous panel it might seem like Si-eun is on the "bugs him" list, why did he make his minion hold Si-eun back and didn't just fight him too then? For someone who likes dishing fists, why did he finish off the Mok-ha duo on his own and then practically encourages Si-eun to kill Dong-ha? Why not continue fighting by taking out Si-eun too? Why did he decide to stop Seong-mok from helping Dong-ha by kicking his lights out while he watched Si-eun beat the shit out of Dong-ha? He could've just watched Seong-mok try and help Dong-ha if he hated Si-eun so much.
And yet. He did not. He stopped the drama from unfolding.
What I find even more interesting is how Seong-je sees a parallel between Si-eun and himself and his reaction to that.
"It's as if he's..." And I bet the thought continues like this: ...just like me.
Honestly, they are similar. Like two halves of the same coin. While Seong-je loves violence, Si-eun despises it. Yet, they are both pretty good at fighting and using their own skills. Si-eun might be the smarter one who uses his brains by utilizing whatever is near, while Seong-je is more the kind to use his whole head. Literally. His skill is basically endurance.
Rewinding to this beautiful moment where Si-eun is almost looking for approval? Perhaps fear of his prey being taken away again? "Are you going to make me stop?" It is honestly the wrong question to ask someone like Seong-je when it comes to dishing out beatings. Of course he is pro-bitchslap. I know Seong-je could easily make Si-eun worse. He'd let him do whatever Si-eun wanted to do. And I kinda want to see that too.
