Final Performance of The Year. Thank God.
After what seems like doing a million and one performances this semester I am finally done. Last week I did 6 or 7 shows, Iâve lost count, in the undergraduate dancer concert here at UMD, called UMoves. I was in a piece choreographed by Suzanne Creedon called, Parlare Ragazza. This piece was so much fun to be apart of because everyone in the cast is really good friends with one another, so rehearsals never felt like work, which made the process run relatively smoothly. The piece was about love and how everyone, especially college aged women, had different experiences and opinions about love. Some people are in love with the idea of love, others canât stand it and theyâd rather stay single, and rest of us are just trying to figure it all out with a smile or frown on our faces. Suze wanted the piece have a 1950â˛s and 60â˛s vibe to it, so our costumes included high waisted knee length skirts or short skirts with ruffles underneath or pants that ended right below the knee, all depending on who your character was.  My character was one of those girls who doesnât really care either way about love but sheâs really happy. Which meant that I had to smile for 80% of the piece, which is something that i havenât had to do in a dance since my sophomore year of high school. It was different from my usual intense face that I give during performances, but I still had a lot of fun.Â
